Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Miami?

[edit]

The Web site of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Sophia in Miami has an image of a mosaic of Sophia with three daughters on its Address page (https://saintsophiamiami.org/about-saint-sophia/contact-info/). I assume the mosaic depicted is in the cathedral. An image of Sophia with three daughters strongly suggests that the cathedral is dedicated not to Holy Wisdom but to Sophia of Rome (who is also venerated in the Eastern Orthodox church). I have not found any other reference that would confirm the cathedral's dedication either to Holy Wisdom or to Sophia of Rome. Can anyone help, please? @PamD, perhaps? Otherwise I propose that Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral (Miami) be removed from the List of churches dedicated to Holy Wisdom. ---- Frans Fowler (talk) 21:32, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Frans Fowler I suspect that there is a lot of confusion/overlap between churches dedicated to Sophia of Rome and those dedicated to the Holy Wisdom.
I came here from the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disambiguation#Saint Sophia Cathedral. I had a look at Sophia of Rome#Churches, wondered whether all of those were really dedicated to her, noticed that Santa Sofia, Naples is on that list and also on this "Holy Wisdom" list. Wondered about the unlinked Miami Cathedral, did a search and found it was listed at List of cathedrals in Florida with a red link, so redlinked it here too. And look at a website like this one: https://www.stsophia.org.uk/ - they call it "St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Cathedral", which sounds like a dedication to the saint, and also "Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Divine Wisdom".
It really looks, to me, as if it would serve the reader better if there was one combined list of all churches dedicated either to the saint or to the holy wisdom, perhaps with a note in the "notes" column to clarify which one a particular church is dedicated to if this is known!
Note that for other saints there is a standard combined dab page for "St/St./Saint X church" and "Church of St/St.Saint X" and variations - see St. Andrew's Church as an example. St Sophia's Church is a red link. PamD 07:27, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you PamD. I am moving Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Miami from this list to the list in the Sophia of Rome article. ---- Frans Fowler (talk) 07:02, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
