Intro...

[edit]

Ages back I promised to take a stab at writing a Somerset-specific intro to the list article. There are still a few references I want to pull out, but I've done a first draft, focusing on the regional history of the castles etc. If I've been too bold in removing the general information, pls revert the change or add it back in! :) Hchc2009 (talk) 11:59, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks however, as ever, there are always a few issues. I think the claim " The first castles were built in Somerset following the Norman Conquest of England" depends on your definition of castle. There are dozens (possibly hundreds) of Iron Age and similar hill forts in the county (see List of hill forts and ancient settlements in Somerset for examples). Castle Neroche was fortified long before the Norman Conquest. To cover this I think a brief "definition" or description of what is meant by "Castle" in the context of this article would be helpful.— Rod talk 12:33, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've added some text in, using the definition in the main castle - see what you think... Hchc2009 (talk) 17:02, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks works for me.— Rod talk 17:50, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
