Criteria[edit]

Pinging @Jnromero:; Aside from what criteria merits a game to be listed here as a "comeback", right now this just seems like your opinion as to what a notable comeback is, which is original research. Pinging @331dot:; This is my first page. I would like to create a list of basketball comebacks. Welcome to Wikipedia. You may want to see your user talk page for some links to introductory pages on what Wikipedia is about. One point in those pages is that Wikipedia is not just a place to collect information, but a place where article subjects are shown with independent reliable sources to meet the relevant notability guidelines. (Probably in this case the sports ones)

I'm not aware of the existence of many other pages like this- but what I do know is that for this to be here, it will need to have defined criteria and not just be the opinion of you or other contributors as to what a 'notable comeback' is; it would need to be what reliable sources call a 'comeback'. Some might even say that the games themselves would need to eventually have articles(though per the guidelines not every game is notable). 331dot (talk) 17:58, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm honestly concerned this page is essentially a list of original research, composed of a collection of what editors think a "notable comeback" is- but leaving that aside, if this is going to be organized by point deficit overcome, I think that should be reflected in the title. 331dot (talk) 22:51, 11 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There's no question either the title will have to be changed or the page deleted. I'm not sure why "Comebacks" is capitalized. I guess "List of largest comebacks in basketball" would work too. The other question is whether the topic largest comebacks in basketball has been covered in reliable sources, per WP:NOTESAL. There are articles on the NCAA and the NBA. I'm not sure that the topic of this article is specific enough to warrant an article. The focus of the article based on it's title alone are not well defined. Hypothetically, it could list high-school, overseas or even exhibition games based on the title of the article and what constitutes a comeback worthy of being listed here is completely up to whoever decides to list something here. Personally, I would prefer if this article could be tied to larger league-based articles, like the NBA and linked to it's page. I have little trouble with the subject matter, but the focus is a mystery.

I'd like to know more about what the author intends to do with this page and what it's purpose will be. Does he/she intend to add more content? Is the generalized use of basketball meant to make this a catch-all page for the sport as a whole or just North American basketball leagues, and even then, how do you justify limiting it to the NBA and NCAA? What about NCAA Division 2? What about NBA D-League? As it stands, the page should be re-titled to reflect it's content and probably should simply be directly tied to the NCAA and NBA pages respectively until it becomes as broadly informative as it's title suggests. There's not enough content to warrant it's own page. Is the author (or anyone else) planning on adding to it, and if so, on what basis and which leagues will be allowed?
