Minor amendments

[edit]

I made 3 minor amendments. 2 of them I have made having learnt from experience, and concern words to avoid. "Dictator" and "Regime". Supporters or detractors of pre/post-Castro Cuba often argue about the use of those terms to describe leaders and administrations - the use of these terms to describe one and not the other and visa-versa. My policy now is to avoid them all together and miss out on the various edit wars that can ensue. The third change is concerned with the one party state, the Communist party was created in 1965 and its dominance only really took hold towards the end of that decade. In the period after the revolution, a revolving cast of characters including liberals jostled for position as Castro ascended to power in what was essentally a party-less state. So I have amended the sentence which infers that relations with the US deteriorated due to Cuba's move towards a one-party state, to mention closening ties with the Soviet Union. I believe this to be a more accurate reason for deteriorating relations. --Zleitzen 19:46, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
