Bulk removal
(was Miss Hannah Minx)
What is the point of having it redirect to this list, and then not having her [Hannah Minx] on the list? 85.217.46.172 (talk) 06:21, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thats a good question, can somone clear this up? thanks.Millertime246 (talk) 17:19, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
- Hannah Minx was added using two references in May 2010:[1] and removed last month:[2].
- That edit removed Allen "Fluffee" Buckle (FLuffeetalks, FLuffee4thewin, ThisisFLuffee), Conor Maynard (skillzaisherebooya), Craig Benzine (wheezywaiter), Davin Tong (pyrobooby, PeterChaoTime, MrChaoNation), Hannah Minx (MissHannahMinx), Jemma Pixie Hixon (jemmahixon), Jonathan Paula, Jory Caron, Riley McIlwain (JPizzle1122), Josh Chomik (thecomputernerd01, JoshRocksGuitarHero), Jorge and Alexa Narvaez (realitychangers), KassemG (kassemg, kassemgtwo), Kate Elliott (Katers17, Katersoneseven), Kristina Horner (italktosnakes), Lankan Man (lankanman), Lindy Tsang (bubzbeauty, bubbisoity), Mitchell Davis (livelavalive), Natalie Di Luccio (nataliedi2), Skyy John (The Skyy John Show, SkyyJohn2, TipsyBartender), Stevie Ryan (stevieryan), Stuart Ashen (ashens), Tyler Ward (TylerWardMusic).
- If you want to add Hannah Minx back, you will need to show sufficient substantial coverage in multiple reliable sources such that they can be considered to be notable. Although all had some mention in various news media, the level of coverage and reliability of the sources was questionable according to the editor who removed those entries. Fences&Windows 20:27, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
- It is a problem, if all above mentioned have a redirect to this page. 85.217.20.33 (talk) 16:31, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
- There are people far more notable than multiple people listed. But they pass because of one article presented. But the level of coverage needed to be considered truly notable is not enough to include them in this list. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 04:04, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
- It is a problem, if all above mentioned have a redirect to this page. 85.217.20.33 (talk) 16:31, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
- The point is, I think, that: when something is redirected, then it should be covered in that article. Some redirects are just synonym names, but this clearly is not. 85.217.42.126 (talk) 03:06, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Mike Lamond, known on Youtube as Huskystarcraft, is well known for producing Starcraft 2 commentary videos. He is trying to get E-sports to be as mainstream a sport as any. He has, as of March 2012, over 600,000 subscribers and over 280,000,000 video views (http://www.youtube.com/user/huskystarcraft). He can often been seen at MLG events casting along side other casters such as Ben "MrBitter" Nichol, Marcus 'djWHEAT' Graham, and Sean 'Day9' Plott (http://www.gosugamers.net/starcraft2/news/16264-mlg-anaheim-schedule-and-caster-line-up).

The source you provided does not provide the sort of substantive coverage required under that standard. What you need to do is provide a reliable source (preferably 2 or more) that provides substantive coverage of the subject, not just statistics on subscribers etc. Monty845 04:26, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

Daxflame
I've no wish to edit this article, but I was looking for Daxflame. There's a redirect here and he's not mentioned. Now, I know he was a troll, but he was certainly notable at the time, is there a reason he's no longer referred to on here - or has the encyclopedia's definition of Youtube personalities changed? 62.255.248.225 (talk) 11:14, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'm a little conflicted on this one. Daxflame was definitely a well known character in his day. According to the bullet list here on Wikipedia, there needs to be a significant coverage from reliable sources in order for a personality to be added to this page. I'm guessing that's why he was removed. His lack of media coverage, however, is because he was an invented character and the actor that plays the character intentionally didn't seek media coverage. It's similar to Boxxy in this regard. At the end of the day, though, Dax still doesn't even rank in the top 100 most subscribed or most viewed channels, which is why I say I'm conflicted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gsfj50pa (talk • contribs) 12:11, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- That's surprising, I did presume there must have been a lot of articles back in the day - or perhaps not, see below.
- Perhaps the bullet list requires a look at. Whilst I appreciate your average fake-celeb/singer would require a raft of articles about them to prove their notability, much on YouTube is popular from a grotesque curiosity/fly-on-the-wall aspect. In Daxflame's case you had (ostensibly) a look in to a damaged adolescent's life. The truth is most people watched his videos in order to be entertained, to laugh at him. It'd be very hard to find a journalist who'd admit to that, but does that make it any less notable, given how many views he had during his golden period? I'm very aware that YT used to have problems with scammed page views, but it seems to me that if you're going to do an article on YT's 100 most popular people, perhaps you should actually list those people as per YT's ranking instead of an arbitrary system of your own design. Alternatively, rename the page "List of YT personalities as per Wikipedia's speshul rools"
- I'm not picking at you here, btw, I just find it odd that a WP ranking goes above the article subject's own ranking. Although I'm assuming he'd be in a YT top 100, I could be totally wrong ofc. 62.255.248.225 (talk) 13:25, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Consensus changes all the time unfortunately, and at the end of the day, we follow Wikipedia's rules on no original research; notability etc. - not YouTube's. -- MST☆R (Chat Me!) 14:11, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

I would like Bill Petersen to be listed in the YouTube personalities page, his channel AlChestBreach has been gaining rapid attention from people interested in comedy, The Fallout series and TESV: Skyrim, he also has his own wikipedia made by fans, several Fallout: New Vegas mods dedicated to him, and references to him in several mods. His other channel, Billtcm has not been so successful compared to AlChestBreach, mainly because he hasn't announced it even being on YouTube the other reason is that he doesn't show his face on AlChestBreach, but he does on Billtcm. He is also working on a Minecraft server with his close but less popular friends, "PaladinV0ci", "JusticeManJoe", "Darziak", and Twar97. Also his face should not be shown on the Wikipedia Page, should one be made, because if a fan looks up "AlChestBreach" on Wikipedia and see's his face than the mystique of Al will definitely be ruined. 142.167.185.251 (talk) 01:02, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Shouldn't Zinnia Jones (ZJemptv) off YouTube be on the list? CaptainSparklez and ThePianoGuys?
I think CaptainSparklez (Jordan Maron) and ThePianoGuys (John Schmidt and Steven Sharp Nelson) should be added to the list.
Why?
- CaptainSparklez
- 1.7 million subscribers
- Very famous for gamers
- Videos are watched over 457 million times
-ThePianoGuys
- 859000 subscribers
- Very famous for it's music
- Videos are watched over 157 million times
And there are people on the list with less subscribers and viewers. Like Alexis Jordan, she has only 52000 subscribers. What do you think about it? (Zaflow (talk) 20:37, 10 October 2012 (UTC))

Update of top ten list?
realannoyingorange isn't number 10 anymore. Pewdiepie is number 10 as he has 2.724 million subs and realannoyingorange only has 2.574 million. Link to Pewdiepie's channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/pewdiepie?feature=results_main and realannoyingorange's here: http://www.youtube.com/user/realannoyingorange?feature=results_main
also, the subscribers for the top ten have changed and it's probably beneficial that we update them to how many they actually have. For example EpicMealTime doesn't have 2.800 million subscribers anymore. He now has 2.861 million subs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheDamox (talk • contribs) 05:04, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

That the CaptianSparklez be removed from the C category, and instead be placed in J under his true name, Jordan Maron with the same credentials as before because his true name is not CaptainSparklez. 86.131.13.67 (talk) 19:01, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
- Question: - The edit requests higher on this page indicate that the addition of CaptainSparklez was rejected for lack of a reliable source. The entry as it stands has no reference.
- Do you have a reliable source for this entry? Without one, it's likely to simply be removed. Begoon talk 10:25, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

- Oh, I would certainly have done so before altering the entry. I'm still waiting for an answer to my question to the original requester. I do notice another editor removed the entry in the meantime, though: [4].
- Now that you have so helpfully answered on his behalf we can kill two birds with one stone. I've reinserted the entry, adding the reference the removing editor requested, and made the amendment from above at the same time. Thank you. Begoon talk 11:09, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

- Sounds silly, doesn't it? Assuming you are referring to Jenna Mourey and Michelle Phan, which one do you think deserves the description? Or maybe neither of them, because there's a higher "number" which can be found in a source for someone else? How does just removing that part of the description(s) sound to you? John Bain is a fairly popular YouTube personality and gaming commentator that has received over 320-million views on his primary channel alone (http://www.youtube.com/totalhalibut), notable among some of the personalities listed here (i.e., Yogscast), hosted gaming tournaments, given awards, etc. His own page here on Wikipedia covers more sources than I can give (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/TotalBiscuit). I think he meets the requirements to be on this list.

According to what I've been reading on Psy, he has been around since 1999 in the music business and has released five full length albums, one EP, and soon to be second EP. Sam Tsui has his own youtube channel now: http://www.youtube.com/user/thesamtsui Please change this.
Furthermore, I'm surprised that wikipedia has not included Boyce Avenue (Channel link: http://www.youtube.com/user/boyceavenue) into this list - they are like the first few singers/bands to utilise Youtube to share their music. I'm sure you would agree with me that the number of subscribers and views give enough of an excuse for them to be a major Youtube personality. -- sources: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Boyce_Avenue and http://boyceavenue.com/
Lastly, there are several new people/bands on youtube that has made a name for themselves. Perhaps, once you've checked them out, you may consider including them and their channel into this list: 1. Paradise Fears (Channel link: http://www.youtube.com/user/paradisefears) - A rock band, sources: http://www.paradisefears.com/; http://www.paradisefearscentral.com/ 2. Wellington (Channel link: http://www.youtube.com/user/wellingtonband) - A new band with 2 original songs under their belt. This band was created via the combination of several talented Youtubers such as Ricky Ficarelli (Channel link: http://www.youtube.com/user/RickyFicarelli), David Michael Frank (Channel link: http://www.youtube.com/user/DavidMichaelFrank), Troy Romzek (Channel link: http://www.youtube.com/user/TroyRomzek) and Jose 3. RoosterTeeth
My apologies if this was already addressed, I searched the archives and the current page for any discussion on Rooster Teeth. Is there a reason they're omitted? Even going by the 2/16/13 date from the charts (using the SocialBlade.com source), they had 3,197,190 subs on that date, qualifying for 15th on the top 30 list. I noted that Gavin Free is listed, but it seems more for his part in The Slow Mo Guys.
If Rooster Teeth is included, the following should be considered for addition:
The following do the bulk of the videos currently being uploaded to the channel, via the Achievement Hunter
- Jack Pattillo
- Michael Jones
- Ray Narvaez, Jr
- Brandon Light
- Caleb Denecour
- Ryan Haywood
Its debatable if all these names should be included, and under what criteria. If its by how often they appear in videos, then Sorola, Heyman, and Hullum do not appear in many videos. They do, however, do voicework on the popular Red Vs Blue series, which is also uploaded to this channel.

- Michelle Phan with less than 4M subscribers as of now.

I think that the following entries should be added to the list:
|- | Nick | MisterEpicMann | Notable for creating the viral video, "How Animals Eat Their Food", among several others. | [3][4][5]
|- | Jordan, Josh, and Kelli Taylor | Blimey Cow | Notable for their series Messy Mondays, many episodes of which have gone viral, most notably, "Seven Lies About Homeschoolers" | [6][7]

An Edit for Jacksgap: The Channel on Youtube is from Jack and Finn, what means, the two of them should be in the list, not only Jack. Jack had runned the Channel first and Finn hadn't wanted to join, but he changed his mind and now they run the channel together. And they have now 2 Million subscribers on 12.6.13 or a few days later or a few days before.. 91.115.65.138 (talk) 11:32, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
