Move
It's perhaps a small issue, but if something is a feature article candidate shouldn't it spell the name of the institution correctly? I do not have an account so cannot move this to "Wilfrid Laurier University People", though that would be correct.99.236.186.75 (talk) 18:37, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- D'oh! I can't believe I spelt the name incorrectly, although it is using what I would consider unconventional spelling. I'll move it. Gary King (talk) 19:01, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
haha - I would normally agree, Wilfred, Wilfrid and Wilford - all variants on one another not sure which came first myself. can't tell you how many places I've visited and had it spelt incorrectly though, it's quite common but the Rt. Hon. man himself went with the 'i'.99.236.186.75 (talk) 20:32, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
How did this get promoted?
Slightly surprised that this was promoted when the list of honorary degree recipients is not at all "comprehensive": it does not state what the recipients are/were known for. This information was previously in the list, but was commented out, pending further work, when I pointed out it was unreferenced. No further work was done on this for more than a week, despite the nominator saying he'd work on it - and then it gets promoted? - You didn't return and oppose, so I assumed you were satisfied. I suggest working with the nominator and trying to get it to a form that you believe satisfies the criteria. In a week, if you aren't satisfied, nominate it for removal. -- Scorpion0422 18:54, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- Well, it was clearly awaiting the nominator's further work, which didn't happen - as would have been obvious to anyone looking at the article or its editing history. Bencherheavy (talk) 18:57, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
(Comment moved from talk page of FLC nomination)
- I wasn't able to find a reference for what every honorary degree recipient was known for. Despite that, I didn't want to remove the entire list as it used a reliable source for the entire list, so I decided to keep it like how it was shown in the reference—with their name, degree, and date. Gary King (talk) 18:55, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- What? They've all got articles, and you can't reference basic information about what someone's known for? When did you decide not to add this information, despite saying you would work on it? Bencherheavy (talk) 19:00, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- I didn't decide not to work on it. I was working on it, had quite a few people with no references, and after spending some time looking for those, it eventually fell by the wayside. I've picked it up again; it should be done in a few days. Gary King (talk) 01:19, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, it's all done now. Please have a look when you can. Gary King (talk) 02:53, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- That's much better. Support (!) Bencherheavy (talk) 07:27, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
