Hey, whoa, what's the deal here? Half the information that was on the old developer pages is gone. Is it at least backed up somewhere, or what? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.102.45.17 (talkcontribs) 17:43, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the entire history is still intact. Just type the character's name in and then click on the link; i.e. if I input Mona (WarioWare), I would see (Redirected from Mona (WarioWare)). Click that, then click the history tab, and you'll see the original pages.
However, when I merged them all together, I did remove them for a reason. The lyrics to Mona Pizza on Mona's page was a copyvio; song lyrics aren't put here. Other stuff was just way too detailed and FAQ-like - such as info on the bosses and detailed descriptions of cutscenes. I trimmed out most of it. Hbdragon88 00:28, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Waluigi

[edit]

He has never appeared in a single Wario video game. He has appeared alongside Wario in Mario sports games, but he's no more of a Wario character than Mario. 199.126.137.209 04:36, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mario has no association to Wario outside of once being a rival to him in one game. Waluigi is constantly associated with Wario. Mario Party, Mario sports, etc., they are not Mario games, they are Mario Party games, Mario sports games. When Waluigi is see, he is with Wario with the exception of one instance where he is a boxer in Game & Watch Gallery 4.

Actually in an issue of Nintendo Power, there was a letter printed from Wario to Mario. At the end of the letter, it was signed "Your cousin, Wario." So judging from that, it's safe to assume the Marios and Warios are at the very least, cousins.

Knowing Nintendo Power, I'm pretty sure that "letter" was nothing more than a joke. --Neo Zeus 18:14, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ashley's Japanese VA not in Japanese Smooth Moves?

[edit]

In the video I had seen of her games in Smooth Moves, they seem to use the english voices rather then the original Japanese ones. It could be they did this so they wouldn't have to localize the entire set of voices for her, as the rest of the cast say mostly simple phrases that wouldn't be hard to understand in either region. Interestingly enough, while they probably gave her a new voice actor that would be for her song and character, Mona's voice is the same, though it could be either she doesn't sing the lyrics, her VA could speak both languages, or they just had a different one for the song/s. Oh yes, and another example of her possible nicer side is in both a segment of her English song, and alot of her Japanese song, where from what I read she seemed to mostly just want to party, with the kind part being her talking about being lonely. 69.175.57.72 09:25, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

English Version of Smooth Moves out in Europe, US Version coming soon.

[edit]

With an English version of the game coming out very soon for the US and already being out in Europe, it would be a good chance to refine the page based on what occurs in the English version, though it possibly won't change much, since 90% of what is posted here is so far just observable stuff from the game. Just a heads up. NelsonJ 01:27, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jimmy P.

[edit]

Who is this guy anyways? There's almost nothing said about him. Is he just an evil clone or something?!? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Phred (talkcontribs) 03:45, 21 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

He's not evil or a clone. Jimmy P. just happens to look like Jimmy T. and have a very similar personality. Jimmy P. actually says in Smooth Moves that he has no idea who Jimmy T. is.

Mona's band

[edit]

I deleted the part about Mona's band being the "Hawt Slices", because it says in the WW:Touched manual that it's the "Hot Slices." —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.54.208.43 (talk) 19:09, 3 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Those birds who protect the Temple of Form

[edit]

What should they be referred to as? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.86.142.90 (talk) 05:01, 11 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

they should be refered as splunks

Waluigi merge

[edit]

The character is just a simple side character that needs little expansion. A list entry should be plenty. Nemu 02:45, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Where is this so called notability? The number of appearances only helps the notability of the subject; it doesn't define it. The character is a spin-off only character who has only played true roles in two of the games. That earns him the list entry, not the article. Nemu 22:13, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The fact that Nintendo continues to include him in games, even spin-off ones, should be enough. Other Mario-universe characters that have made less appearances garnered their own Wikipedia pages - Wart, Albatoss and Toadette come to mind. That being said, if you are intent on merging Waluigi into a list, at least keep a link to the Super Mario Wiki and its more extensive article on Waluigi. Suigi 01:50, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
WP:WAX. I could care less about the link, but if they have something like this on there, feel free to link to it. Nemu 02:01, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. The link to the Super Mario Wiki is here. That being said, if Waluigi is notable enough to garner a page on that wiki - and quite a sizable one, too - then why not here on Wikipedia? Sorry if I'm being a stickler on this point. Suigi 17:04, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Because that is a specific wiki based around the Mario series, so the criteria for articles is different. The information there wouldn't be accepted here. It has no baring on this site. Nemu 17:12, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Gotcha. In that case, I'd like to downgrade my vote to a Mild keep, if such a thing exists. Suigi 21:43, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How many times do I have to say it? That is what earns him a spot on a character list. The notability of the character doesn't even fully decide if he needs a page. If Mario was as popular as he was now, but only a paragraph could be written about him, he wouldn't get an article. A character needs notability and proper information; Waluigi has neither. Nemu 17:15, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong keep. I'm with the others. It doesn't matter that he doesn't have a backstory; he's a main Mario character. I don't see why you're arguing about it... clearly, people seem to think he deserves his own article. I think the WP:WAX is referring to characters like Albatoss (which I'm actually surprised it has it's own article for...). Hardcore gamer 48 07:23, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not to mention, Waluigi has never appeared in a Wario game. He's appeared only in Mario games... Hardcore gamer 48 07:25, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It really doesn't matter if people believe that he is important; they haven't shown it. Just because he is a recurring Mario character means nothing. This isn't a pure matter of notability either. He has nothing more to write about (explaining every game appearance for minor characters is out of the question). WP:WAX is for anyone using an article to justify another. It's a broader version of the Pokemon Test. Wario characters are inheritably Mario characters, so it doesn't really matter where he goes. Nemu 10:18, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Er, I'm torn here. On one hand, I feel as though Waluigi ought to keep his article. He serves as a foil to Luigi and a partner to Wario. He has several appearances and cameos throughout the series including one main-villain role. He is more than just a Wario character; he is a Mario Series regular (Has he even appeared in a Wario game yet, by the way?). On the other hand, his current article is nothing short of an unsourced non-Wikified mess, and I can't think of any good ways to expand it. I vote weak keep. You Can't See Me! 05:23, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Although I will obviously receive opposition, I will attempt a merger soon. As this is a discussion instead of a vote, my argument still holds strong. Per WP:FICT, characters only need articles if they do/can possibly receive proper encyclopedic treatment. That means that much of the possible information needs to be out of universe, and adequately sourced. This is pretty much impossible for Waluigi, who, besides some possible creation and criticism notes, has no possible way to achieve that. He is suspended in a two to three paragraph state that will only be broken by the involvement in actual games in the series, something that has yet to happen. Nemu 17:46, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Let's not prioritize Waluigi, though. What bugs me is that Wart, Tatanga, and Tryclyde keep their articles while Waluigi, a recurring playable character does not. Sure, one might bring up WP:INN, but I find a flaw in that; sure Waluigi does not belong, but he certainly belongs more than Wart, Tatanga, and Tryclyde. In other words, I'm suggesting a shift in priority: Get Waluigi after those other guys. I'm curious about why you flew straight to Waluigi rather than characters where you'd face little opposition. You Can't See Me! 06:15, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not bothering with them yet because it would be impossible to do a clean merge. Look at the crap that we call an enemy page. It is full of useless junk because of one person. I can't feel good increasing its size until it is actually cut down. I would love to merge a lot of these, otherwise. Nemu 10:13, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've tried it out now. It's on the enemies list instead of here. Nemu 19:49, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Which was promptly undone by a user already. I don't think I've seen anything in support of the merge except from you, Nemu. It just seems rather Sisyphean to keep pushing this issue. Suigi 04:59, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really care for support in this situation. None of you have provided a rational argument. All you spout is WP:ILIKEIT, WP:WAX, and other crap like that. Those aren't arguments; they're fan pleas. If this were a borderline case or something, your opinions would outweigh that, but this is clear cut until someone can provide some other argument. And PoD would undo any merge if he had the power, so I don't really pay attention to him. Nemu 10:21, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong keep. I Don't Agree on a merge at all, and I don't care if he's considered a filler or Spinoff or any of that crap (which is why I prey that Super Wario Bros for Wii is true, so that crap can't be used against him anymore). Waluigi is a recurring character and doesn't seem to be going anywhere, he isn't like the other Mario enemies who've appeared only in 1 game and remake of that game (Wart and Tatanga for example). He's a known and recurring character and as said, you seem to be the only one wanting to do this merge. So I vote to keep the article and to leave it. Exodecai 19:29, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How the hell do you people not even notice the guidelines? Per WP:FICT, only characters with proper, OOU writing, and reliable sources need articles. He can't be attributed to any decent sources, and he pretty much fails WP:N when comparing his notability to the whole series. These do not just go away because you can dig every argument out of WP:ATA. Nemu 23:11, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Again, I would be satisfied as long as there's a link to Waluigi's article on www.mariowiki.com wherever he ends up. This way, the fans can get the information they're used to. Suigi 00:53, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I still don't think that merging Waluigi into this page is such a good idea because he is not a Wario series character. He's just a character who so happens to be related to Wario. Frankly, though, I find this to be sufficient. You Can't See Me! 01:51, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's the actual merge. The discussion is only here because it started here. TTN 01:53, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh... Eh he... My bad! *runs* You Can't See Me! 02:24, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Y'know, Nemu, I'm quite honestly surprised that you didn't merge anything earlier; it seemed quite clear to me that you were going to merge the pages no matter what was said. However, I have changed my decision after seeing this. I must say, with little information like this, he does fit in there. But if any MAIN game that features Waluigi comes to light in the future (whether it be the currently rumoured Super Wario Bros. or whatever), I hope that his main article will expand (or be put back, in the case that it gets removed from Wikipedia). Hardcore gamer 48 13:06, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, I'm stuck with The Prince of Darkness, who hates any sort of merging, to revert any attempts. If the info required for a character page is found, this can be brought back at any time. TTN 13:14, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, forgive me. What I mean is that I don't really care what happens with the page; so I'm not against merging Waluigi with whatever page, but I'm not NOT against it, either. ; ) Hardcore gamer 48 12:15, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Ashley-ds.gif

[edit]

Image:Ashley-ds.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Penny Crygor

[edit]

I finally got around to playing smooth moves the other day. I noticed during Penny's stage that, when she put on those big jumbo goggles, she looked uncannily like Arale from Dr. Slump. Did anyone else notice the similarities, or am i the only one. I saw that the article for Jimmy P. referenced his similarities to Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, so i don't see why not to add a similar reference to Penny's section.

Ashley's Theme in Brawl Notice

[edit]

Ashley's Theme as been noted that it will be in 6 languages, not just Japanese and English. Also, the current use of the song is currently unknown, so don't assume it is going to be the Wario Ware stage currently announced, they could make an Ashley's Mansion stage. Thanks.

OBEY STARMAN 15:10, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It did not say that the song would be in 6 languages. It only said that the website is in 6 languages. It only mentioned the 2 versions for the song. 205.213.202.4 18:52, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It says the game is in 6 languages, and it is technically not out, and he did not state that it will only be English and Japanese. The Donkey Kong Rap was translated into several languages in the European version. OBEY STARMAN 19:00, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The game, as far as we know, is not is six languages. Note that, with the exception the Japanese site, all screen shots with text in them, are in fact, in English, even the Mr. Resetti update (Languages other then Japanese and English have the shots in english, translated at the bottom of each shot). Also, nowhere on the sire does Dojo say that the game will be in six languages. I quote from the Ashleys theme update: Smash Bros. Dojo is being unveiled worldwide in 6+1 languages. Meaning: Dojo!! is in six languages. Like the above IP said, the site has not confirmed that Ashleys theme will be translated into four other languages, and saying otherwise would be speculation. DengardeComplaints 04:24, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Your right, but please don't add "is likely to be the Wario Ware Stage". That is speculation too. OBEY STARMAN 13:36, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
