[edit]Need to correct spelling to Entrepreneurs, in sub-title Business Executives and Entrepeneurs. One notable entrepreneur left out of the current list is controversial grad "Chainsaw" Al Dunlap, or Dunlop, who took over Sunbeam and made deep cutbacks. He wrote a book, and was interviewed extensively in business media. It would make the section more current. Joe 05:52, 3 January 2006 (UTC)jfdunphy 1-2-2006 end message.
Under authors, one notable author that should be included is Robert B. Johnson, Jr., class of 1965. He co-authored a book with intelligence analyst K. Bruce Galloway extremely critical of West Point, and its system of education. The book is Italic textWest Point: America's Power FraternityItalic text published by Simon and Schuster, New York, 1967, Library of Congress Card Catalog number 72-90391. This is likely to be a controversial choice to WP's, and we'll see if the Wickipedia format allows some academic freedom and intellectual integrity. The book calls for serious re-examination of the West Point education system, and makes a strong case for closing down the academy, as a military elite can pose a danger to democracy. It also mentions the criticism of West Point for producing so many traitors who defected to the Confederacy in the Civil War, the 1966 scandal of 20 cadets cheating in physics, the 1951 scandal with 90 cadets, mostly footballers, thrown out for cheating, and named West Pointers involved in covering up the My Lai Massacre in South Vietnam. This book becomes more relevant as the Iraq War is starting to rival the length of time it took to defeat Germany in World War II. Joe 06:14, 3 January 2006 (UTC)jfdunphy 1-2-06 end message.
Bradley, MacArthur, Arnold, Eisenhower & Pershing
[edit]It is noted next to Omar Bradley that he is General of the Army, so shouldn't we also note this for the other holders of this rare and prestigious rank (Eisenhower, Arnold & MacArthur)?
Moreover shouldn't Eisenhower be mentioned under the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army (which he was from November 1945)?
Finally shouldn't Pershing be noted for his title of General of the Armies and for being Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army?
Since I am not much of an expert in the field of US Army History I haven't done these edits myself, but I'll do them if noone objects to this. --Mecil 16:52, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
Why is Capt. David Wiggins on this list?
[edit]Wiggins doesn't even have an article. Why is he considered a "notable graduate"?
I'm not saying that a person might not be notable for being a Conscientious Objector. Muhammad Ali is a very notable Conscientious Objector. I'm sure there are many others although I'd be interested to know of a notable Conscientious Objector who was a West Point graduate.
What I am saying that there is no information on Wikipedia about this notability. I would assert that either Wiggins is notable enough to deserve an article or else he is not notable enough to be on this list.
I know nothing about David Wiggins and would be gladly willing to accept evidence that his Conscientious Objector status was notable (or that something else about him is/was notable). I'm more complaining about the lack of evidence of notability than anything else.

Westies?
[edit]For reasons that aren't worth going in to here, my attention has been drawn to the Westies (people) article which is about residents of Australia and New Zealand. Now, in the back of my mind, I have the impression that graduates of West Point are also called "Westies". Is this true or am I just confused?
--Richard 16:40, 20 August 2006 (UTC
Missing from the list is Brigadier general John Tupper Cole, class of 1917. Army colonel of the fifth armoured division in World War 2 and purple heart recipient. General Cole was also a member of the U.S. Olympic equestrian team 1932 - 1936.
It says on Norman "Stormin Norman" Schwarzenkopf's (sp?) article that he attented Valley Forge Military Institute and not West Point.
General Schwartzkopf earned a high school diploma from Valley Forge Military Academy in 1952. (As I did in 1956). He graduated from West Point in 1956 (as I did in 1962). Cadets and graduates are not called "Westies"by anyone, nor are they referred to as "Pointers" by anyone who knows the jargon. They are "cadets" and "grads" - or "West Pointers". The school is not called "The Point" by the informed.
Greg Plitt??
[edit]Hi Umm.... this page is boring, so I couldn't read it, but could somebody please tell me if Greg Plitt is in it, and if he's not, if he could be? I mean, he's not like Robert E. Lee-notable, but I mean, people with Heisman Trophies are in it. Like, what IS a Heisman Trophy??--Plavalagunanbanshee 20:03, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Too long
[edit]This article is way too long. Ordinarily it should be forked. In this case, I would think breaking the article in two and forking from the main article (USMA). Cross-linking to each other. Some whitespace can be "saved" by columnizing. Right now, no outsider is ever going to get through this article which is an important article!Student7 (talk) 21:32, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Glenn davis.jpg
[edit]Image:Glenn davis.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Alumni sort order
[edit]FYI all: See Wikipedia_talk:Featured_list_candidates#Alumni_list_order. I am working on List of United States Naval Academy alumni to get it to FLC and then plan to work on List of United States Military Academy alumni. I think it'd be good if they were set up as similar as possible. — Rlevse • Talk • 04:08, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. Thanks so much for the excellent work on the USNA alumni pages, they look great. If you can help do the same for USMA's alumni list, that would be terrific. Ahodges7 talk 00:52, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned references in List of United States Military Academy alumni
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of United States Military Academy alumni's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
