4252nd equipment

[edit]

Relocating from article:

The 4252nd equipment consisted of about 70 KC-135 Tankers in 65,66,and early 67. The Okinawan people were very concerned about any Bombers ever being on the base and I do not remember any ever being there, perhaps some made unscheduled landings there but I don't remember any. The KC-135s refueled the Pacific area and would evacuate to the Phillipines, Guam etc for Typhoons and continued to fly their scheduled refueling missions. Most, if not all the aircraft were rotated through from stateside bases along with crews and some maintenance personnel. There were also permanet assigned maintenance personnel to provide maintenance personnel and support staff. The unit was designated as young tigers and also had a forward base at Don Maung RTAB, Thailand for closer and faster support requirements.

Seems to me that "assigned to the Strategic Air Command" is redundant because all Strat Wings were assigned to SAC. Also if the qualifier is dropped, in the highly unlikely event that USAF forms a new strategic wing in another command, it could be fitted here nicely. --Lineagegeek (talk) 21:31, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
