List or not

[edit]

These lists should probly ALL be labelled "selected list of notable,,," since the current enrollment is 2000, most everyone is left out.

List or not

[edit]

This is just a list. It should not be its own article, but would be a welcome addition to the USAFA article. 204.113.19.8 20:51, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

See my comment in Talk:United_States_Air_Force_Academy Tarfu92 21:22, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Turbo tax

[edit]

I think the guy who invented turbo tax is a USAFA grad. Anyone know?

Val Kilmer?

[edit]

I know there's a long-standing rumor about Tom Petty having been at USAFA as well as one or more members of the band Tool (I think the latter was conclusively disproved; not sure if the former was ever proven one way or the other), but I never heard that Val Kilmer was a former cadet. In fact, his Wikipedia page said he went to Julliard after high school. Where did you see that Kilmer was at the Academy? - Tarfu92 17:33, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alumni sort order

[edit]

FYI all: See Wikipedia_talk:Featured_list_candidates#Alumni_list_order. I am working on List of United States Naval Academy alumni to get it to FLC and then plan to work on List of United States Military Academy alumni. I think it'd be good if they were set up as similar as possible.RlevseTalk 12:36, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

[edit]

I propose renaming this to List of United States Air Force Academy alumni to be in accord with List of United States Military Academy alumni and List of United States Naval Academy alumni. RlevseTalk 20:05, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Support for consistency. -MBK004 20:47, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This has been up 3 weeks and no objections. Note another support below in the "Merge" section. Doing move now. RlevseTalk 12:34, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]
  • Support merging List of non-graduate alumni of the United States Air Force Academy into this to have all in one spot and in conjunction with the requested move/rename. Will also bring this in line with the set of FL/almost FLs of Naval Academy alumni. RlevseTalk 11:10, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Qualified support: I don't have a problem with the name change and I also agree with the reformat described above, both for consistency. But I will note that the main alumni lists for West Point and Annapolis do not contain non-graduate alumni. WP has a separate list for non-grads, and I don't see a non-grad list for Navy (although I could be missing it). For what it's worth, I think that Academy grads tend to be a little more sensitive about the grad/non-grad distinction than alumni of most schools. - Tarfu92 (talk) 19:00, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Understand but I other alum list have a non grad section. I will put them at the bottom of the list. WP we haven't gotten to yet. I plan to also do the USCG and Merchant Marine lists eventually. RlevseTalk 12:33, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I don't object to the inclusion. I just wanted to throw that out there in case there was any backlash. - Tarfu92 (talk) 17:28, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Merged. Required 5 days has passed an no objections brought. RlevseTalk 22:07, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Pat McGeehan, Class of 2003: West Virginia House of Delegates

RlevseTalk 14:44, 8 March 2009 (UTC) In the "Government" list of number one graduates the name of the ex-mayor of San Jose, CA , Chuck Reed, and his Daughter, Kim Reed, are both listed as "number one graduates". This is in error. I have a letter from the Air Force Academy dated 15 May 2006, listing all of the number one graduates through 2005, and neither of their names appear. I can send you a copy of the letter, if you think it would help. This set of "facts" has been around here in San Jose for many years, but I would like to correct the story.MBHar (talk) 17:36, 17 January 2015 (UTC) Letter, United States Air Force Academy, Top Graduates (Won the Generals Millard F. Added Brock Strom to list. Couldn't figure out how to insert citations for various statements with the template. For anyone who does have that ability, here are the citations for the various awards listed:

"Military" heading

[edit]

Rlevse- Just a quick comment on the "Military" heading, which I note you've just started: for what it's worth, when I've been adding people to that heading, my main criteria have been that the individual was either a 4-star, or had some other major notoriety (combat ace, etc). 3-stars or lower I left out, unless there was some other reason to keep in. I notice at least two supts are in there, but not all, so we may want to add a Superintendents sub-heading to this, and fill it out with Hosmer, Stein, Oelstrom, Dallager, Regni and the new guy, Gould, when he comes on board. - Tarfu92 (talk) 17:22, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was going to break it up somehow. I want to make all the academy alum lists as similar as possible. Check out my 4 on the Naval Academy. I could make a MOH one just for the Navy but haven't yet due to time. RlevseTalk 22:06, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hosmer and Stein are in Academia (as with USNA list). The others are not even on the list. Can you link to their articles? RlevseTalk 00:26, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rlevse- Thanks for your work on bringing this list up to speed. I'm using it and your Woopoo supt article to build a new one on USAFA Supts. - Tarfu92 (talk) 14:23, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tks and ok, but I'm not done with the USMA Supes yet. RlevseTalk 15:39, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Understood. It's not nearly as time-consuming as these others, though, so I can probably have it done myself in fairly short order. - Tarfu92 (talk) 18:56, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
