nomenclature
[edit]harder than it looks, due to the fact that rocket scientists like to use there rocket or system nomenclature, makes it perty hard to dig out launcher numbers. and in some cases like the disposable M72 law, there is just the one number to describe the hole thing. so who knows if its a system number, or a launcher no. or a rocket no.Brian in denver (talk) 20:21, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
- its actually kind of stunning, when you try to find a list like this, just how much information has been lost or buried, even with popular systems. Brian in denver (talk) 22:21, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
work in progress
[edit]since this is kind of a working list, I'm going to add the "modern" aircraft launchers, and system numbers, although I suspect thay may have been split out into a different catagory, Brian in denver (talk) 17:04, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
Name
[edit]Per the manual of style, the name should probably be "List of U.S. military rocket launchers." "Rocket launchers" is not a proper name, these weapons were used by multiple branches and we need to specify sorting only if there were other lists with different sorting. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 21:51, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- I suppose you could expand the list to include the Squid system-(Mark-XX), and the split off airforce system, I was aiming spacificly at the army nomenclature system. (see M-numbers) thusly Brian in denver (talk) 21:20, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
- well now that youv brought it up, and I'v looked around, I hadent realized everything was so screwed up. So my argument would be that, "The end user doesent matter, what matters is the assigning agency/system." using a general term like military is perty sloppy, unless your going to exclude the term "Model-number" and make a list of both Model-No. and Mark-No. frankly I have a hard enough time trying to read the Armys mind, let alone the squids.Brian in denver (talk) 15:55, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
