The La. Pizza Kitchen Killings

[edit]

There has been a bit of a content dispute regarding the entry including a mention of the Pizza Kitchen killings, and it seems to be trivia to me as well as a couple of other editors. I confess to not watching Treme (not a pay service viewer, I'm afraid), but just based on the wording of the edit, the event was merely referenced by a character, and neither the event or the relevant history of it played a part in the episode. If the event's history plays into the episode, it should be included in the prose of the actual episode summary (which has yet to be written) rather than just tacked on in a "this day in Louisiana history" kind of way, but if all that happened was that Toni Bernette said, "that reminds me of the La. Pizza Kitchen Killings", which is all that seems to be insinuated by Richardsan's wording of the edit, it doesn't really have a place in the article. This page is about the episodes of Treme, not the history of Louisiana or New Orleans, and should be kept on point. KnownAlias X 10:18, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

as mentioned by one of the series main characters. it is relevant, as it is a 'dialog' expansion. not many [outside of nola] know about this event. why not ask the writer/s why it was spoken...it is there, as the city is about to 'see' another march on city hall because of this new ongoing senseless crimes of murder in the city. the case for removing this information, in light of an editor not even having watched the series in question should be re instated. let the NB stand...have it be included when [who ever] adds information about this particular episode, so other people will know what the character was referencing, when she said it... richardsan (talk) 01:39, 15 July 2011 (UTC)richardsan[reply]

But as I stated before, this is a page about the episodes of Treme, and the only way a statement like that would belong here is if it clarified a plot point in the episode summary, and as of yet no episode summary has been written. A stand alone fact without an episode summary stands, on this page, only as trivia, and serves no purpose here. After a summary is written, it would then be a matter of whether the fact in question illuminates a point from the plot that would otherwise be unclear since Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. "Dialogue expansion", or dialogue in general, for that matter, is not really something we do here; summaries are meant to boil the plot down to the basic essentials preferably within 100-200 words. Based on your description of the episode, the events leading to the march are pretty clear in the context of the episode, and the history of the Pizza Kitchen Killings is referenced only as being similar to these events. Usually, such a thing would simply referenced by the name of the event and linked to a relevant article elsewhere in Wikipedia, but only if the mention was a significant event meriting it being repeated. Again, without the plot summary, I fail to see the relevance of the information, and it certainly won't be relevant until there is one. KnownAlias X 05:25, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

so, you don't watch the series and 'fail to see the relevence'

[edit]

of how important it may be for those non nola natives who may want to read an expansion in regards to what the writers alluding to? to have some expansion of fictional characters talking about real history is disseminating r e a l information. should i just start a new wiki about the La. Pizza Kitchen murders and have reference of the line spoken in the Treme series?

victims as "irrelevant" [sic] foot notes...gotta like that...NOT. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Richardsan (talkcontribs) 04:07, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Season Pages

[edit]

I think season pages are necessary. 68.44.179.54 (talk) 15:04, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Season 3 DVD release date

[edit]

According to David Walker of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the release date for season 3 on DVD Region 1 is November 19, 2013. He posted it online today (Sep 3 2013) on nola.com. Can someone add this to the page? I would but I don't know how to do the footnote/source.

Thanks, I added it. Drovethrughosts (talk) 14:24, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Season 4 table formatting

[edit]

Since only one out of five episodes uses the story/teleplay format for the writing credits, should we change the table layout to the more standard format (like The Sopranos)? It would be more accurate, but keeping as is would be more consistent with the other season tables. Thoughts? -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 21:59, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Kinda funny, I was just going to edit the article to use the standard "Written by" field. I think it should be changed (all seasons), since not all the episodes use teleplay and story, unlike The Wire, which uses it for every episode but one. Sounds fine to me. Go ahead. -- SchrutedIt08 (talk) 22:07, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes We Can Can

[edit]

Since it caused some confusion, I wanted to point out that "Yes We Can Can" (two "Can"'s) is the name of a song, written by New Orleans based songwriter Allen Toussaint and made a hit by The Pointer Sisters. The two can's is not a typo, that's the name of the first episode of season 4 (as most episodes were named after songs with New Orleans connections).
