New character list and relocation of miscellaneous information

[edit]
Now, with the possible introduction of other goddesses beside Diana, I think it is necessary to add "Celestial Beings(天界の人間)" or "Heavenly Beings" or just simply "Goddesses" section to the list. The list itself requires improvement and it needs a substantial review to remove or relocate miscellaneous information to satisfy Wikipedia's guideline/standard.
Here is a list I was thinking of:
  • Main characters (regardless if they are in RSQ)
  • Runaway Spirit Squad & Collaborators (remaining RSQ members who are not main characters)
  • Celestial Beings
  • Captuere Targets
  • Minor characters
Please remove or relocate miscellaneous information to these two The World God Only Knows wikia sites.

Contradiction in the manga

[edit]

Mari's birthday supposed to be 25 November, but she had her birthday in vol 4. Seeing that the recent chapter just reach October, this is the author's miss or the profile in the blog and in the manga is not canonic.114.59.98.57 (talk) 02:09, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

One word to clarify your misunderstanding: Chronology. The chapter does not involve any confliction of time. There is no concrete information to set its place in the timeline between the past and the present. The date of Keima's world in FLAG34 is November 25th, according Mari's birthday on her profile. Your contradiction is that Mari's birthday couldn't have happened because the most recent date (in Keima's world) is October, in addition to the most signficant factor you forgot to mention — the presence of Elsee. The existence of Elsee in the Katsuragi household (chapter 2), which began in late winter or early spring, eliminates the possibility that it occurred between the past and present. My words may appear to be in support of your contradiction but they are not, it merely clarifies that the chapter did not occur between the past and the present. Do you understand? Mari's birthday may have occured in volume 4 (chapter 34) but its place in the timeline isn't between the end of Chihiro's arc and the beginning of Jun's arc.
Three explanations are valid: It is set in the future or Mari's birthday is incorrect or it's a non-canonical chapter. BishojoMeister (talk) 19:47, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Mari's birthday has officially changed into 25 May, FYI 222.124.198.172 (talk) 09:17, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Birthday listings and stats (blood type, body measurements, likes, dislikes) aren't notable for this article, although the notes about how the author designed the character are worth mentioning (reference the omake pages at the end of each volume). About details on character's info

[edit]

Is it stated in the manga that Nora already became Runaway Spirit Squad from before 10 years ago? Her partner, Ryo, is too young if she did (like less than 6-7 years old?). Whether there was partner's replacement or she became Runaway Spirit Squad for a few years early only. If there is no direct statement for when she becomes one, please delete that part. NecocYaotl (talk) 15:22, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In chapter 56, Nora talks about the Runaway Spirit Squad being an elite group before the "great spirit escape 10 years ago" and that they relaxed the requirements for joining the squad as a result. It is not clear when she specifically joined or started partnering with Ryou. Haqua and Yukie partnered at around the same time as Elsie and Keima (three months before they Keima meets Yukie) AngusWOOF (talk) 15:42, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nikaido info

[edit]

Nothing confirms that Nikaido is a demon, and is it just as likely that Akari is the demon and Nikaido is her human partner, since we see a younger Nikaido with Jun in a photograph. Wererat42 (talk) 05:22, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Names --- The girls which hold the goddesses inside all have names which are related to gods from different religions Nakagawa Kanon - Kannon, buddhist "goddess of mercy" Ayukawa Tenri - Tengri, mongolian god, or: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Tenrikyo Kujyō Tsukiyo - Tsukiyomi, moon god —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.214.235.28 (talk) 09:30, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Train stations

[edit]

Isn't Kusunoki Kasuga derived from the Kasuga Station? All of the conquered targets' surnames - not the forenames - are derived from train stations. Her forename is derived from the Camphor Laurel, which would fit because her sister's forename Hinoki is also derived from a tree. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.78.170.49 (talk) 14:13, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone provide sources that Wakaki intentionally named or renamed the characters after train stations? Also is there a line of train stops that he picked? If it is just coincidence that he picked names that matched train stations then this does not need to be included in the article. AngusWOOF (talk) 16:08, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The author's note for volume 11 talks about the Giant Tree Sisters, so that would explain their related given names. Added that to Hinoki's description. Also, the blog note FLAG90 talks about stations, however, I did not see where it used the word Kasuga but Kintetsu instead (according to Google translate). If you can provide more blog translations that show that he is trying to name them after specific train stops instead of just using a general transportation analogy for story arcs such as the statement "we're now arriving at the Hinoki station" AngusWOOF (talk) 15:39, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Mps for providing the link on a recent promotion which confirms 14 characters named after stations. -AngusWOOF (talk) 16:56, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome. Maybe we get some additional information on other characters in the context of the new train-themed spin-off announced last week which is slated for September 19th [1]. --Mps (talk) 19:35, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

On Elsie's name

[edit]

I see that on the wiki page Elsie's name is written as Elucia de Rux Ima. An older version of this page, however, says Elucia de Lute Irma. Which one is correct? As far as I know, the ...de Lute Irma one is the more popular transliteration (though not necessarily the correct one). Martirsadota (talk) 13:56, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rux is used on Crunchyroll. Can anyone confirm what they use for Sentai? AngusWOOF (talk) 21:13, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Crunchyroll and Hulu subtitles show Elcea de Rux Ima at about 6:59 into episode. Still need confirmation on Sentai, which has only confirmed her short name Elsie. AngusWOOF (talk) 02:01, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Docrow or Dokuro Scroll?

[edit]

Saw this comment in the character list: -- Docrow name is written in Hellian. Before you edit the name into Dokurou again, read ch 1 of the manga (referenced). It's the official (Hellian) romanization

Docrow Skull (ドクロウ・スカール, Dokurō Sukāru) (ref)The World God Only Knows manga; Chapter 1, Page 16 --

So when is Hellian an actual language? The character, according to Crunchyroll's licensed translation is named Dokuro Skull. source: http://www.crunchyroll.com/the-world-god-only-knows/episode-1-love-makes-the-world-go-round-560038 at 7:49 - "from Dokuro, the Bureau Chief". I still need to confirm this with the Sentai Filmworks version but if it's been officially translated by an English producer, then that's the spelling to go with. Also, the manga has not been published in North America. That's fine for listing details such as future chapters that aren't covered in the anime. AngusWOOF (talk) 18:40, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Additional characters

[edit]

I noticed that none of the new characters from the "Past" arc have been added. While most characters in that arc are merely child versions of existing characters, a few new ones have been added, including two girls who became new "targets", though only one is known to have actually had a Weiss in her, and a man with a vendetta against the Weiss. I'm not sure whether new characters should be distributed among current categories, or placed in a new category, but they've achieved a major enough role that they should be added.

It can go either way. If there are only a handful of new characters (Urara Shiratori and grandfather/family) then distribute among Targets, Supernaturals and Supporting, but if there are a lot then you can group them into Past Arc characters. -AngusWOOF (talk) 23:56, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
