Mysterious Old Lady who works in the annex of the office with Toby & Kelly
In "The Coup" deleted scenes, as Dwight heads to the annex to find Angela sitting behind the vending machine of the break room, he walks past an old lady working on her computer. Who the hell is that? She also appears in "Office Olympics" near the end standing with the other employees of the office congratulating the winners. Is there any information on her?
Here are some screenshots: #1 #2 -- (unsigned)
Her name is Luanne. -- Raymondc0 (talk) 16:12, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- She also doesn't matter as she has never spoken. The office just needed extras during its "pilot" season before they really "knew" who would be in the show.--Cupivistine Noscere? (talk) 00:26, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- The Coup and Office Olympics weren't in the "pilot" season. They're from Seasons 4 and 2 respectively69.204.103.195 (talk) 00:34, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Character Updates
I know this debate has been brought up before, but I think that as the show is now into its fourth season, we shouldn't limit the character table to the jobs and surnames that are from the first season. Opinions? Mastrchf91 (t/c) 22:41, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Toby Flenderson
I suggest that we merge this minor character's article in here. -- Magioladitis (talk) 22:12, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. He was a major character (and nemesis to Michael) for at least three seasons (he was minor in the 1st). 98.172.21.130 (talk) 23:18, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
Madge has a boyfriend in prison?
Under the Madge section it says that Michael is referring to Madge when he says "and you probably have a boyfriend in prison"
I think he was referring to the stripper.
This might explain why Madge wasn't in frame.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.178.208.77 (talk) 00:23, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Mass merge
Merge all of the following:
as well as the minor characters into the characters list (List of characters from The Office (US T.V. series)). All the above fail WP:FICT and only discuss in-universe details (or everything from an in-universe perspective. No secondary sources to prove notability outside of the work. Outdated job titles
There are some outdated job titles on this list. The characters of Jim and Dwight have had position adjustments. For instance, Jim Halper is now the assistant regional manager. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.145.150.226 (talk) 18:43, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- I submitted updated job titles and employment status a while back, but they were quickly reverted back to their original Season 1 status. I feel it's counterproductive to list post-Season 1 staff (Andy, Holly, etc) and their titles while at the same time listing Ryan as a temp and Jan as Vice-President. Windmillninja (talk) 22:24, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
- I also just noticed that Roy is listed both on the main grid and as a former employee. This page needs some clarity.Windmillninja (talk) 22:28, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Deleted Scenes - Josh Porter
"In the deleted scenes of "The Convention" (as shown on NBC.com), it is strongly suggested that Jan wishes to make Michael jealous by using Josh, after inviting him upstairs to look over tomorrow's schedule and have a quick drink."

Kelly "Erin" Hannon or just Kelly Erin?
On this page, Erin's section keeps being changed from Kelly "Erin" Hannon to Kelly Erin Hannon. Erin is Kelly's last middle name, but everyone calls her Erin, never Kelly. So what should we name the section? C Teng [talk] 19:41, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
First off, "Erin" is her middle name. Secondly, I think she should get her own page. Charles has his own and she's been in twice as many episodes has he has. The page should probably be "Erin Hannon" since that's what she goes by, just like Jim's page is "Jim Halpert" not "James Halpert." 71.57.245.189 (talk) 19:49, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Redo?
I had considered restructuring and reorganizing this entire article into several smaller categorized tables (rather than one giant table for the main characters). I believe that the current table is long and excessive, and rather unattractive to look at. Also in doing this, I want to convert the bulleted points into a brief summarized paragraph for each character. This paragraph may contain spoilers (ie: I may mention that after seasons of Jim liking Pam, he finally marries her), but I won't go into great detail as it's unnecessary, and if more information of a character is wanted, readers could simply view the characters' respective articles.
Does anyone oppose to this change? I have done similar edits like this in the past to no opposition, but I thought I'd ask for opinions first. I currently have it set up in my Sandbox and will be editing it slowly over the summer. — Kendra Michele — 01:46, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Gabe Lewis and Jo Bennet
I think they are both larage enough characters at this point to deserve their own pages. Especially Gabe. He's getting more screen time then most of the other characters these days. 69.249.240.61 (talk) 05:40, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Todd Packer
I feel that Todd Packer is important enough to warrant his own stand-alone article. He's appeared in enough episodes and was even the central part of last night's episode. Thoughts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.208.87.161 (talk) 23:18, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
Remove "Former" Designation?
I think the table should give an overview of the series as a whole, not just the current standing (especially after the series is over). Do we really want to move Michael to the "Former" section at the bottom and pretend he was never manager? Casual readers are probably going to expect him to be in the "Management" section and won't even realize there is a section beneath.
Additionally, should the characters of Karen, Deangelo, David Wallace, Jo Bennett, and Charles Miner even be included in the table? The table is labelled "Main characters", and these characters were never credited as such. While they may be major characters, there should be a distinction between that and main characters. "Main" implies that they were stars.
Anyone want to discuss this? Kevinbrogers (talk) 21:22, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
I think Michael shouldn't be in the "former", if we knew what his job was in Colorado, but it doesn't say anything past season 7, so not sure. And I think Karen, Deangelo, etc. were a large enough part of the show and they all have there own pages, so its okay for them to be included because there is no other table where they would fit.Caringtype1 (talk) 21:29, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
Kathy
Pam hasn't been a salesperson since season 7's Counseling, when she became the office administrator, so I think that is why Kathy was hired, although her official job is unknown as of now.Caringtype1 (talk) 00:56, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
- I remember her becoming office administrator, but I think she's both now. I'm not sure, I just assumed she kept her salesperson job. Maybe Kathy will have a bigger role soon and we'll know for sure. Kevinbrogers (talk) 03:38, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
ALL THESE MERGERS
I am quite frankly disgusted by the actions that were taken to merge articles like, Jo Bennet, Deangelo Vickers, and the rest of them. There was certainly enough information for all of those articles and they WERE ALREADY CREATED, it would be different if there was a discussion to create the pages in the first place! All of you acted inappropriately and childish!!!! These were very important characters that you just DESTROYED!!!! I tell people all the time if they miss an episode, or want to know more about a certain character, go to wikipedia, but NEVER again, since there are just silly little paragraphs for characters an important as Meredith or OScar!!!!!! This page is OUT OF CONTROL, it is waaaaaaay to long, there should be more than 2 paragraphs for each character!!!!! I am HORRIFIED by these actions and i might never edit or even read wikipedia again because of this. YOU TRAMPLED ALL OVER A FANTASTIC SHOW LOVED BY MILLIONS, for no reason!!!!! This is an HORRIFIC, UNJUST, ABOMINATION, and this is NOT THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Caringtype1 (talk) 16:44, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
the changes
they stink. The "loved ones" only work if there was like 5 main characters, but there are WAAAAY to many to be set up like this. Also "the documentary film crew" needs to be deleted, no point shouldn't be here, maybe on the main page or something. Also the removal of characters like the applicants from season 7 was a bad idea, since they were technically all in 2 episodes. Changes aren't good, makes it WAAAY to confusing should go back to the way it was.Caringtype1 (talk) 19:46, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
whoops didn't see the applicants from season 7, never mind about that one, but the rest should be changed back.Caringtype1 (talk) 19:50, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
- I was originally motivated by wanting to cut down the extreme size of the Table of Contents, where every single character has their own heading. If you're advocating that we should go back to that, I'm puzzled as to why you would want that when your reasoning seems to be that the section is already too long.
- What I would really like to see is for the more significant characters (i.e. those that it can reasonably be assumed someone might be looking for, like Jo) to have their own heading, while the very minor characters (like every miscellaneous warehouse worker) are lumped into one subsection in each category. Theoldsparkle (talk) 15:00, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Deborah Shoshlefski should have a section
I know that with the discussion above, the last thing people want to argue about is adding more characters to the page, but Shoshlefski pratically had a whole episode surrounded around her. She's at least as notable enough as Luke Cooper, so she should be included on the list. NetflixSoup talk 01:48, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
What character is this? i don't remember her.Caringtype1 (talk) 19:38, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
- As I tried to explain above, I'm okay (not wildly impassioned, but okay) with including Luke because, as a family member of a main character, he would have some relevance outside the single episode he appeared in, i.e. he is Michael's nephew whether or not he's doing anything. (Of course, given the show's total lack of interest in continuity in later seasons, it wouldn't remotely surprise me if next week's episode featured a character going out of their way to mention for no particular reason that Michael had no nieces or nephews. But I'm overlooking that.) The chair model, which is who you're referring to, as far as I know has never been mentioned outside of the single episode; she was only relevant in that one episode. And as I said in one of my edit summaries, what is the purpose to including a one-episode character here? Either the reader has seen that episode, in which case the character summary won't tell them anything new, or they haven't and they'll just be reading a summary of the episode, and if they want to read summaries of episodes they haven't seen, they can do that on the episode articles. Anyway, I would rather cut Luke than include the chair model. Theoldsparkle (talk) 14:55, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
I see the point of Luke, but the chair model?? i didn't even know know that that was her name, she was never even seen on screen and is dead, so....Caringtype1 (talk) 19:07, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Episodes as references
Does anyone see any value in references that simply re-state the episode being described? I.e., "In Episode X, Michael did blah-blah-blah" with a footnote that just refers to "Episode X"? Because I sure don't see the value. Theoldsparkle (talk) 19:25, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
- I could understand adding a note at the top of the references section mentioning that all claims about characters can be verified by the episodes. However, I don't really see a point in saying "In X episode, Y happened" and then immediately citing the episode. It seems like the text already cites the episode. So, basically, I completely agree. Kevinbrogers (talk) 02:05, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
Non-notable characters
Just scrolling through this list, I see many, many one-time characters (such as "The Prince Family" or "Finger Lakes guy"). Do they really warrant an entire section, some with multiple paragraphs and large images? I don't think they do, considering that most of these were only on camera (if on camera at all) for a few minutes compared to an entire 171-episode series. I think the information should be moved to an appropriate episode page (Stephanie, for example, could be moved to "Trivia"). I just really don't see the point in going into that level of detail with some seemingly random ultra-minor characters. I think the following should be deleted or moved: Rolando, Stephanie, Marjorie, Michael (dock worker), Craig, Thomas Peets, all Scranton Regional Manager applicants (those that did not return), Fern Widgale, The Prince Family, and Glenn. Some I'm not sure about include Jerry DiCanio, Ed Truck, and Ronni; I don't remember them appearing in more than one episode, but I'd have to check. It seems like the majority of information from these sections comes from deleted scenes or is a very detailed evaluation of two or three lines. Thoughts? Kevinbrogers (talk) 19:20, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
- I agree that I don't see the need, in general, to mention characters who appeared in one episode and were never mentioned again, and I've mostly removed those characters where I've seen them added. Several of the ones that you listed are at least mentioned in some respect in a second episode (or the deleted scenes from a second episode); I've largely been relying on what's written here to determine that (i.e. I have no real idea what episodes Warehouse Worker X appeared in, but if the text here says that he had lines in two different episodes, I trust its accuracy). I have also left some characters in who only appeared in one episode, but would have some kind of continuing relevance to the main character's universe, such as a family member; I think there's an arguable difference between including Michael's nephew, and including the guy who played Ben Franklin. I cannot see any argument for including the guy who played Ben Franklin. I also left in the regional manager applicants for the purely subjective reason that they didn't bother me much; I think a case could be made for keeping them as being notable since they were highly publicized cameos.
- If I were the one creating this page, it would look pretty different and significantly smaller, but as you can see from the page history, for the last couple of weeks it's basically been a back-and-forth between one guy adding stuff and me taking out the parts that I find indefensible (and he does not make an effort to defend them except by putting them back in sometimes). In the interest of compromise and consensus, I've set a very low bar for what I'm okay with including. Theoldsparkle (talk) 20:55, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
- Bringing this up again. There's now an entry for Thomas, Robert Lipton's aide that never even appeared on the show? I think there should be some further discussion in which we draw up criteria for inclusion; this criteria would have to be very strict. Otherwise, we may just end up getting entries for characters like the boat captain from "Booze Cruise", the CPR instructor from "Stress Relief", or the Abraham Lincoln impersonator from "Gettysburg". If I were making the criteria, I would use the following:
- The character must appear with a speaking role in at least two episodes (two-part episodes do not count; it must be two unrelated episodes).
- The character must be mentioned or referred to in various other episodes (such as "I'll report you to Jo" when Jo does not actually appear in the episode). This would filter out characters whose appearance did not have an effect on the show as a whole.
- Exception can be made in extreme cases for guest stars whose appearance leaves long-lasting implications for main characters on the series (closest character that fits this that I can recall is Mrs. California).
- If a cast member is listed as having a "starring" role, their character can be included if the above have not been satisfied (unlikely, but I suppose it's possible).
- I suppose this may seem a little strict, and (if accepted, of course) this may force us to cut out some of our favorites (such as Jim Carrey), but, in my opinion, that is something that must be done for a series with eight (hopefully more) seasons. I'm open to additions, deletions, or revisions to the above; I just want to get a discussion started here. Kevinbrogers (talk) 02:22, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

If I were making the criteria, I would use the following:
- *cough* Captain Jack was already added (and removed) in the past. Anyway... ugh, you know what, I spent way too long thinking about this and what I would suggest as a counterpoint, and then I realized I was really just trying to justify keeping Prince Family Paper on the list because the company gets mentioned in the second episode, but the company isn't even really a character. What would be helpful, I think, is if you could make a list of which characters currently listed would be included and excluded by your suggested guidelines (I would do it by copying the TOC to Notepad), and we could see if there's a class of characters that would be omitted that shouldn't be. Other thoughts I have are: a) I'd support treating deleted scenes as part of the episode; b) a Talk page consensus to include a particular character should always be able to override any rules or criteria that are otherwise agreed upon; c) maybe a "Notable cameos" section would be a good idea, listing characters (with brief descriptions, two sentences max) that don't otherwise meet the criteria but were noted by external reliable sources. Theoldsparkle (talk) 15:58, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
What to do in case we don't know the name of a character's portrayer
Some of the characters' portrayers, like the guy who plays Karen's husband Dan, are uncredited. When this is the case, should we just write "portrayed by uncredited actor/actress"? NetflixSoup (talk) 00:40, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
yes, if you're sure they weren't credited anywhere, saying they were portrayed by an uncredited actor is best.Caringtype1 (talk) 15:10, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Addition: The discussion for Nellie Bertram was made way back in March, long before it was clear if this would be a permanent character. As she is now a regular on the show, with multiple article references cited, I believe this satisfies notability. --T smitts (talk) 23:09, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
When the article was merged the first time, it was believed that Tate was only a 6-epsiode guest star. Todd Packer's middle initial
I don't think it's clear that Packer's middle initial is indeed 'F.' The only time this is referenced in the show is during what is clearly a joke. During a scene in "The Fight" where Michael asks Ryan to update everyone's emergency contact information, the following exchange occurred:
Michael: "For my emergency contact put Todd F. Packer. Do you know what the 'F' stands for?"
Ryan: "Fudge?"
Michael: "How did you...?"
Michael was clearly trying to make a joke, probably one he had used directly on Packer in the past, and Ryan beat him to the punchline. Packer is an easy target for embellishment with the common term "fudge packer" being regarded as an insult. There is, of course, the possibility that Packer's real middle name does begin with an "F," making this an even easier target for Michael, but it's also very plausible that he invented the "F" purely for the sake of an attempt at comedy. The point is, there's no way to know with this being the only reference to his middle initial, so I don't think we should list his full name as "Todd F. Packer" with no additional proof that 'F' is indeed the correct initial. So, for now, I have removed the 'F' from his official name. If someone has another reference to his middle initial being 'F,' that is not setting up the punchline to a joke, please post it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.69.135.49 (talk) 19:43, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

How is Karen Filippelli not a "starring" role?
The chart showing the "Main and recurring cast" lists Karen as a "recurring" character in season 3. Surely she was "starring"? I've just watched season 3 for the first time and Karen is a huge part of the main story. Along with Andy, Karen was one of only two main Stamford characters who got kept on after the merger. Karen becomes Jim's girlfriend, which I would say makes her the third most important character in the whole show at that point. Karen also features prominently in many episodes alongside all the regular characters - far more than, say, Roy or Kevin (both of whom are listed as "starring"). I definitely think Karen should be changed to "starring". Unless these designations are somehow official, though that is not stated anywhere in the article? Regular cast table
Following DJordan18's revert to my restoration of a stable version, time to discuss this cast table. On the two matters currently reverted:
- Order of Melora Hardin and Denman: MOS:TVCAST is very clear on this one: "The cast listing should be ordered according to the original broadcast credits, with new cast members being added to the end of the list". The starring cast credits are introduced in season 2 episode 13, in which neither Hardin or Denman appear. So although they appear at the top of the starring credits when they next appear (Denman in episode 14, Hardin in episode 15), they should be listed below the others.
- BJ Novak and Mindy Kaling's season 9 status: This is more contentious, but I still believe that listing these two as anything other than recurring in season 9 introduces unresolvable problems. As in the superbowl episode of season 5, every starring cast member is credited as main (in the opening titles) in the finale episode. So in fact, Novak and Kaling are credited as guest on once occasion, and main on one other in season 9 - never as starring. The way to handle these one-off changes in status is, quite frankly, to ignore them (or acknowledge them in a note, which I have done) and look to the status in other episodes, as we are doing for all the season 5 and 9 starring casts already. So it's two guest appearances at either end of the season, i.e. recurring.
Happy to discuss either of these or anything else regarding this table! Thanks, U-Mos (talk) 23:36, 29 January 2020 (UTC)
Melora Hardin’s "Starring" role in season 5: too little episodes to count?
Technically, yes, she was credited as starring in all of her season 5 appearances. All 2 of them, within a 20+ episode season. Does that still count as being a starring cast member or not? We have Novak and Kaling listed as recurring for season 9 for a similar reason: they are credited as starring in all of their appearances in the season, but only in the one episode they are even present in. 184.181.98.125 (talk) 11:20, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
- It does still count, yes - the note provides clarification that she leaves the role in episode 4 of that season. U-Mos (talk) 20:54, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
For #1, Hardin and Denman weren’t really new, they were just absent from a couple episodes, and from that point forward were billed above the rest of the cast (with Hardin above Denman).
For #2, that is a bit contentious, although I’ll stick with my edit, for two reasons: a) The difference between the credits in the finale and the credits in the Super Bowl episode are that although they were in the title sequence in the finale, they weren’t paired with images of the characters they portray, like in the Super Bowl episode, and therefore should still be considered starring. b) Since Novak and Kaling are only credited as guests in one episode and starring in the finale, the guest appearance could be considered a one-off occurrence, and the starring appearance should override the guest appearance, since it’s a more prominent position.
Sorry for taking so long to reply. Thanks, DJordan18 (talk) 11:36, 11 February 2020 (UTC) DJordan18 (talk) 01:36, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
Karen not part of "Regular Cast" section
Is there a reason Karen is not included in the "Regular Cast" diagram? Or is that simply an oversight? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.15.242.42 (talk) 20:03, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
Why were these characters' pages removed while these characters have their own pages?
The pages of Stanley Hudson, Meredith Palmer, Phyllis Vance, Toby Flenderson, Creed Bratton, and Darryl Philbin have been removed and merged into the larger list of The Office characters. But on the other hand, Gabe Lewis, Nellie Bertram, Clark Green and Pete Miller still have their own pages. The first list of characters mentioned were all present throughout the entire series, appeared in nearly every single episode, are credited as "starring" for almost all seasons (aside from 1), and are incredibly popular among the fans of the show. On the other hand, the other 4 mentioned appear only in later seasons (2 of which only appear in 1 season), had less episode appearances, are less important to the story of the show and are mostly unpopular, disliked or forgotten by fans of the show.
I have added proposals to remove and merge the last 4 characters pages. I suggest that the first 6 should have their pages restored.
- @Jamalkemal: Seems like some were nominated for deletion and the results of all of them were to merge into this article. Then some others were merged/deleted unilaterally by an editor recently. We should figure out standards for a character having their own article, and then enforce that consistently. –CWenger (^ • @) 04:24, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
- Support the idea of merging all character to here, on the grounds of lack of independent notability and that having them in one place provides context for the discussing their relations to one another, as per WP:PAGEDECIDE. Klbrain (talk) 22:21, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
Kelly Erin Hannon not on the list.
Kelly Erin Hannon is the replacement for pam (after kevin) when pam leaves to Michael Scott Paper Company. Her first apperance is in S5 E23. I don't know a lot about her because i'e only recently started watching the office and as im writing this im watching S5 E23, but i do know that kelly kapoor is using every mention of kelly erin hannon as a mention of herself. EG: Charles would call in kelly erin and kelly hannon would go in instead, shortly followed by kelly hannon. 81.109.243.88 (talk) 13:47, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
