Why the list divides?

[edit]

Why is this list divided into sections? There's no reason for it, and it is more useful to have one uniform list that is sortable.Hoops gza (talk) 21:40, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non-needed characters?

[edit]

Why there are those ^, * and # marks and colors? Makes it somewhat messy. Are they exactly needed? 82.141.119.195 (talk) 02:37, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Look at the other NBA statistical lists...these are standard formats...also for other sports lists. Coulraphobic123 (talk) 02:56, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Some lists do only have the colours. For example List of NHL players with 1000 points, has active players with cyan background. And, oddly List of NHL statistical leaders has no colours, but active players names bolded. And List of all-time NASCAR Cup Series winners has three different colours. The ^, * and # might be standard in NBA lists but not in many other sports. And was it said those make the table messy? 82.141.67.208 (talk) 05:45, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If I remember correctly from reading somewhere else, the purpose of the characters are for the blind. If a webpage were to be printed out in braille for the blind, since they can't see colors (obviously), then the symbols serve the purpose that the colors do. Coulraphobic123 (talk) 15:29, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds reasonable, though they are not used consistently on the sport-related lists. They might be in NBA lists, but there should be larger consensus, and put those in all sports' lists. Other way is to get rid of them.
And now, a question came to my mind: Does the character bolding show in braille? 82.141.67.208 (talk) 05:28, 23 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

17+ season

[edit]

I don't think we need to put 17+ as seasons played for Jason Kidd or Juwan Howard. They're currently in their 18th season, so it's better to put 18 in there. Same thing with Garnett, Thomas, and plenty other players. — MT (talk) 04:30, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The way I've read it is that the "seasons" column shows how many seasons of experience they've had. So even though they're in their 18th season, they've only had 17 seasons of experience...and that we can change it to 18 at the end of the season. Either I can put an explanation as a footnote in the article explaining that or I could change it back. Does that make sense, though, what I was saying? Coulraphobic123 (talk) 13:31, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it does make sense, but I've always read seasons column as how many seasons a player has played. Anyway, after a second thought, I think it's fine with 17+ and change it at the end of the season. — MT (talk) 13:52, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Right, that's what I meant. Like Jason Kidd has played 17 seasons...so we shouldn't have "18" since he's currently in his 18th season. He's completed 17 and is now in his 18th. I'll add a note to this page about that.

Team(s) column

[edit]

How about using collapsible/hidden list for the Team(s) column like the tables in List of oldest and youngest National Basketball Association players? — MT (talk) 11:59, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I could do that. My question is for those who have had more than one stint with a team like Steve Nash who went Phoenix, Dallas, Phoenix. On the page with list of players by age it shows Phoenix with his two stints listed next to each other, and then Dallas. On the other stats pages, however, I think by listing them separately it creates a much better "timeline" effect...so if I do the collapsible format, should Nash's read as 2 teams or 3 teams? Coulraphobic123 (talk) 23:20, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I wasn't asking you to convert it, I was offering my service to convert the list, but any help will be appreciated. Anyway, I agree on the timeline, but perhaps Nash's totals should be two teams, since he only plays for two franchise. I'll try to convert the age list to timeline first, see how it looks. — MT (talk) 01:01, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good...you can convert the teams column on this page when you want/if you can. Coulraphobic123 (talk) 23:36, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
