Chorley, Miles Standish's home town, is in Lancashire. It stems from "Lancastershire" I am sure but Lancashire has been the accepted spelling and pronunciation for time immemorial. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.19.57.162 (talkcontribs) 16:02, 22 December 2005

Susanna Fuller White

[edit]

~~Susanna Fuller~~

From the book, "The Fullers in England and America", first published in 1901 and reprinted in 1971 by Hubert and Florence Fuller, it states the children of Nicholas Fuller were Edward, Samuel, Mary, Nicholas and Susanna, twins. This Susanna Fuller later married William White and gave birth to a male child, Peregrine, while on board the Mayflower. There seems to be some confusion about who Susanna was before her marriage. I hope this clears it up. Scott Foreman — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.23.93.136 (talk) 14:15, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What's the deal with all the bolded names?

[edit]

I'd asked a frequent contributor, and that editor didn't have an explanation. Is there some reason each individual's name is bolded? This is way outside normal style for lists of people. BusterD (talk) 12:07, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removed bolding per your inquiry. Mugginsx (talk) 13:15, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Meaning of asterisk (*) following certain names

[edit]

What is the significance of the askerisk (*) following some names. I found no reference to its' meaning in the text.

Rochester1A — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rochester1A (talkcontribs) 13:50, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As it states in the article: Note: Asterisk on any name indicates those who died in the winter of 1620/1621. Mugginsx (talk) 18:47, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Self-published source

[edit]

Please note: This article relies heavily on Caleb Johnson's The Mayflower and her passengers, from Xlibris. This is a self-published source, and it would be good if we could replace those citations with a more reliable one. --BDD (talk) 13:17, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This author has already been accepted. He is both self-published and published by others. An administrator has already accepted him in other articles. Can't remember where but I will try to find it for you. Mugginsx (talk) 11:11, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Remains in the Pilgrim Tomb

[edit]

People may think that the names on the Tomb of those who died in 1620-21 represent remains entombed inside. Not true. A small selection of remains of unknown persons (Pilgrims or otherwise) was collected in the 19h century and are in a very small box inside.Mugginsx (talk) 11:07, 24 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It is fairly possible that I did a huge chaos with copy/paste and vi editing, but if my numbering of the list is correct (note that each subset has its internal numbering) there are some problems: essentially 99 passengers instead of 102 and 49 people from Leiden instead of 37. It is possible that I have mis-deleted 3 guys, not that I have added 12 people to the Leiden group

Ship's Cat?

[edit]

The article mentions passengers bringing pet cats but there is no mention of a ship's cat. Wasn't there one? My understanding is that ships carried a car to kill rats.Bill (talk) 02:42, 24 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
