Jo Swinson date

[edit]

Jo Swinson is down as being in the constituency since 2005, when she first won the seat, but with a note to the effect she lost the seat in 2015 and regained it in 2017. However, in the companion article List of MPs for constituencies in Wales 2017–present Labour's Chris Ruane, who represents the Vale of Clwyd constituency is listed as being in in the constituency since 2017. Like Swinson Ruane had lost the seat he held in 2015 and regained it two years later. The difference is in his case it is the year of current service, with a note that he earlier held the seat from 1997 until his defeat in 2017. I think one of these articles needs to be changed for consistency. It is possibly worth noting in relation to this case that the criteria for Father of the House assumes service has to be continuous, so an MP defeated and later re-elected would not be able to count their earlier service. Thus I think the Ruane approach is possibly the better option. Dunarc (talk) 20:14, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
