Cleanup
[edit]This article needs to be cleaned up, there are several grammatical and spelling errors. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kc12286 (talk • contribs) 16:41, 29 April 2006
Separate pages
[edit]Since the article was getting long - around 61 bytes, I've split the article into its individual pages for each season. Please see Wikipedia:Article size for more details about optimal article size. Also, I left the cleanup tag on each page. Ladida 01:00, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- Please undo this. I often wish to look up episode summaries; how am I supposed to know what season each episode is from? I saw this article multiple times before it was split; it was not of unreasonable size. Vote unsplit —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.132.209.231 (talk • contribs) 02:59, 12 July 2006
Removal of absolutely uncited Season 11 episodes.
[edit]I have removed all Season 11 episodes, as there is no absolutely NO citation for these episodes other than "CONFIRMED by Neal Baer". The only "confirmation" I have seen is references to blogs and Twitter pages (which I have not seen even contain as much information as is being placed on these pages), which are NOT recognised by Wikipedia as valid sources. Please provide valid, solid sources for upcoming episodes, and not interpretations of blog postings. This is an encyclopaedia, not a fan site - and as such the information placed therein must be facts and citable - no speculations in any way, shape or form. I do not mean to be rude...I am only trying to be clear and direct with my points on this subject. I invite any admins to clarify this issue. I also notice this is only being done by a handful of users on a small amount of shows - so this certainly is not policy for Wikipedia and I have difficulty believing it will become policy any time in the future unless there becomes some way to absolutely guarantee there will never be any impersonators on blog pages or Twitter ever again. - People are still using Twitter as the sole reference for spoilers/episodes. Is Wikipedia going to change the rules to allow this or at some point enforce the ones already there about proper citations? I have tried to ask this question of a couple of admins and some experienced users who are not admins and have gotten no real answer on it. Please help? - Your best bet will be to check with the editors at the Reliable Sources Noticeboard for a consensus. For my part, I would treat twitter as a mini blog. If the individual twitter account is known to be owned by an authority on the subject, then their tweets could be used as a reliable source - but only for the statements of that individual. If something is worth including, though, there will be a better source to reference it - there is no deadline, there is no need to use twitter when more reliable sources will become available. That's my take, though - YMMV. UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 20:15, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
Removal of Stephanie March as a guest star
[edit]Just letting everyone know I've removed Stephanie March as a guest star from Hardwired on, considering she is once again in the opening credits. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.99.25.156 (talk) 02:59, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

automatic generation of seasons
[edit]Why does not the automatic generation of the different seasons? So I mean is, as in the articles: CSI episodes or NCIS episodes. Can anyone help? -- 91.64.29.81 (talk) 13:59, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Can anyone answer? -- 91.64.29.81 (talk) 09:46, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- Perhaps people don't understand what you mean by "automatic generation". --AussieLegend (talk) 20:50, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- How can you explain it? If NCIS is listed the episodes in the extra page for the season. These are then automatically displayed on the main page. Here, with Law & Order: SVU, it is not so. Why? Do you understand? -- 91.64.228.147 (talk) 21:09, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- The problem is that the season pages are not being transcluded properly, probably because of the ampersand in "Law & Order". It is being discussed at Template talk:Episode list. --AussieLegend (talk) 22:35, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. Wait? --91.64.228.147 (talk) 22:43, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- Waiting is about all you can do. apparently it's been an issue at other Law & Order articles too. --AussieLegend (talk) 23:51, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
Factual Fix
[edit]Factual Fix
[edit]Please change writer credit Season 1 Episode 2 to Miriam Kazdin. I watched the episode and also confirmed by IMDB lookup for the writer.
Perform your own due dilligence.
Additionally, the episode order is wrong after about the eighth entry. The dates are plausible but apply to the episode actually shown, not the mis-ordering here. You can get the proper episode original air date from NBC.COM, the authoritative source. Writer, etc. credits are also mixed up along the way so it's not merely a simple reordering.

Authoritative corrected SVU S01 Episode info
[edit]This should correct all of the mistakes, wrong writers, wrong episode production numbers and the rest of the former mess that have been reported before. I have seen all of the affected episodes recently to confirm the credits from the episodes themselves. Unless Dick Wolf allowed factual errors in his own credits [not likely other than minor spelling issues such as a name that has "de" in front of it is/is not connected to what follows it, and whether to capitalize the "d" or not] I think we can allow the episodes to be the final reference. I am surprised that the episode codes in the current article are wrong in at least one place simply because the same value is repeated [it's actually a typo]. Regardless, here is all corrected. Anyone can double-check me, but between nbc.com, epguide.com and TVoutrage.com I think we have consensus to allow this to be the last non-cosmetic edit. [And a minor peave: Some writers are partners and they choose who gets the first billing, and thus is episode-specific and this is reflected below. If the grid should grow another column, writer credit may differ from story-by credit.]

Potential page split
[edit]I had switched from transcluding episode lists to actually including them in this page, since the former method broke the page because the Post-expand include size limit was exceeded. AussieLegend reverted it, because it caused the tables to be duplicated between here and the season pages, and suggested splitting the page similar to how List of The Simpsons episodes was done.
However, I don't think that reading page itself, that it is long enough to warrant a page split, so I wanted to propose an alternative approach: include all the episode lists on this page (with appropriate <onlyinclude>...</onlyinclude>
tags), and then on each season's page transclude the episode list from this master list. For example, this means that the "Episodes" section at Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (season 1) would be replaced with {{transcluded section|source=List of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes}}{{#section-h:List of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes|Season 1 (1999–2000)}}
. It avoids duplication and splitting the page, it solves the WP:PEIS problem, and it does so in a way that is largely transparent to readers. --Ahecht (TALK

- Unfortunately, your proposal is completely contrary to the way every other episode list is created. The TV project has pretty much set itself on managing these lists the way that List of The Simpsons episodes was handled. i.e. move the first x number of seasons (typically 20 but not fixed) to [[List of <Foo> episodes (season 1-x)]] and keep using the main page as it has been used in the past. This process has been pretty good at fixing the ongoing problem. --AussieLegend (✉) 01:07, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
Requested move 12 July 2021
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
Moved as proposed. Consensus is clear; the current title will be redirected to the corresponding section of the base article. BD2412 T 01:55, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
List of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes → List of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes (seasons 20–present) – The current title falsely implies that this list has all episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit when it is only episodes from season 20 onward. Blubabluba9990 (talk) (contribs) 18:15, 12 July 2021 (UTC)
- Support. The current title is indeed misleading as it doesn't have a list of all episodes. A better system is one used by Lists of Doctor Who episodes. Gonnym (talk) 09:20, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- Support. Obviously. And redirect List of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit#Episodes. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:16, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose current proposal, but support move to List of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes (season 20–present) – the word "seasons" should not be plural in this context (it is not the same situation as "(seasons 1–19)"). --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:42, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
- Support? I don't see why this decision isn't already done given we have a Seasons 1-19 titled page for the episode list. This should have already been a done deal for Seasons 20 and onward. - DevonteHuntley (talk) 16:53, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
- Strong Oppose This proposal flies in the face of established convention - See for example List of The Simpsons episodes. Where it has been necessary to split episode lists that break the post expand include size, sub-pages are created but the master list is not renames. This avoids any necessity to move episode lists every time a sub-page is created. IIRC, the original move discussion that resulted in this convention is the one at Talk:List of Casualty episodes (series 1–20) along with other explanations on that page. --AussieLegend (✉) 17:07, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
- Support Brought here from the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television § Episode list titles. I also agree with the editors at WT:TV and the RM nominator(s). If the "season A-B" article is disambiguated, then so should related articles, such as the "season C-present" article. An article's title should be the clearest indicator that reflects the content of the article: "List of X episodes" indicates that all episodes are listed on the article, but "List of X episodes (season C-present)" indicates that only a set number of episodes are listed on the article and that the rest are at a related article. I'll be voting to support the other related RM's, with the same reasoning I've listed here. -- /Alex/21 01:59, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
- Note - Since the result of this RM may contradict the current, ell established naming process, this RM should be halted until the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television#Episode list titles concludes with an appropriate outcome. --AussieLegend (✉) 10:26, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
