The article states " A total of 7,322 awards were made between its first presentation on 30 September 1939 and its last bestowal on 17 June 1945." Nazi Germany unconditionally surrendered on 7 May 1945 and the German government was abolished by the Allied powers effective that date. How does that reconcile with the statement in the article? Very frustrating too. I was wondering whether Wilhelm-Ernst Freiherr von Cramm was any relation to the Cramms who married into the Dutch royal house, but it just links back to this article. Valetude (talk) 02:00, 22 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
