EDL vs longer

[edit]

I understand the ambiguation problems on a category. But how the hell is EDL demonstration ambiguous? There is only 1 EDL organization which holds demonstrations. There is only 1 Tommy Robinson EDL member. Pass a Method talk 02:03, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:TITLEFORMAT/WP:ACRONYMTITLE: abbreviations/acronyms are discouraged in titles unless the thing is known primarily by the abbreviation. I don't think this fits the US/UK exception at WP:ACRONYMTITLE since EDL isn't the sole or primary usage of the abbreviation. –Roscelese (talkcontribs) 02:28, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In sources, mostly abbreviation EDL is used. Pass a Method talk 03:23, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

EDL demonstrationsEnglish Defence League demonstrationsEDL is ambiguous, the main article is located at English Defence League. This could refer to demonstrations related to many of the other EDL entries on the dab page. 70.24.248.23 (talk) 05:44, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion

[edit]
Any additional comments:

There had been no proper discussion on whether this content fork, crap ineffective looking table is justified at all. It was proposed at the main article TALK:English_Defence_League#Table_of_demonstrations and then created a few hours later. In fact, there are more contributors in favour of summarising than there is for creating a separate article, so why is it here? Leaky Caldron 12:05, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of #Table_of_demonstrations

[edit]

Looking at the brief discussion at English Defense League#Table_of_demonstrations there not only was no consensus for the creation of a separate article, but in fact a consensus against it, with a preference for a summary in the main article. I will therefore list it for deletion at WP:AfD unless a clear consensus for keeping it is established. The discussion is here: [1] Leaky Caldron 13:18, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Scottish Defence League

[edit]

The SDL protests for the precise same reasons, but has a different leadership. Should SDL events be simply marked as such in this list, put in a separate table or deleted? Indiasummer95 (talk) 20:37, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

List of European Defence League demonstrationsList of English Defence League demonstrations – This page was unilaterally moved without discussion from the original name, and there's a chronological issue as a result. The European Defence League article states that it was founded in October 2010 as an offshoot of the English Defence League and had its first demo in the Netherlands (30 October 2010). Therefore, the 25 or so demonstrations in 2009 through October 2010 can't be European, but English, and there's also some things that belong to the Scottish Defence League. It is probably prudent to note that most of these different offshoots are treated as a subsection of the English article, but there's some crossover into the European article as well. Basically, there's an underlying organisational problem with the whole lot of Defense League articles. As a note, this will also need to be a tech move, because it needs to go over a redir.
