SC, BSG, FC, etc.

[edit]

I have added the full names of some clubs: "Chemie Leipig" to "BSG Chemie Leizpig" and "Dynamo Berlin" to "SC Dynamo Berlin" and so on.

The reason for this is that the names "BSG", "SC" and "FC" contain essential information about the club, such as its status and its role in the sports system. This is one of the peculiarities of East German footall. The only exception is perhaps Dynamo Dresden. Dynamo Dresden was one of the 11 elite clubs (or key-clubs), but kept the name "SG" ("Sportgemeinschaft") instead of taking the name "FC" ("Fußballclub") as the others.

(In the case of "Dynamo Berlin", I think it its important two write "SC Dynamo Berlin", as there have been several "Dynamo Berlin", and to clearly distinguish the club from BFC Dynamo, which many people referes to when they say "Dynamo Berlin").
