columns for references

[edit]

Rublamb I see that you reverted my edit to put notes and references in different columns. I did this to make it clear how poorly referenced this article is. What is "F&S"? Do you have a link to the style that you're referencing? -- mikeblas (talk) 01:21, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Mikeblas: Thanks for asking. The sources are listed in the lede, rather than repeating those in every row. That and placing efn (notes) in the ref columns are the styles preferred by WikiProject Fraternities and Sororities. Unfortunately, we don't have a comprehensive style guide yet. Those decisions were made in WP talkpage discussions. (Note: The fraternity chapter table template divides notes and references, but that notes column was used for text notes before we started using efn. We now prefer efn.). The decision to place efn in the reference column was for space considerations.
@Jax MN, do you have anything to add? This is about List of Delta Chi chapters. I just added Baird's which oddly was not included as a source, giving this article two reliable secondary sources. Rublamb (talk) 02:08, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Got it. Thanks for the explanation! -- mikeblas (talk) 02:51, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with your summary; the ΔΧ chapter list is formatted like hundreds of others that are reviewed by our Project. Mike, we are appreciative of interested new editors on the project, and look forward to your support. Our current focus as a Project team is in refining some 3,000 pages for consistency, citations and clarity. Some are stubs, which we aim to improve, some are somewhat bloated in a non-encyclopedic way; these, we are trimming. We are contributing new pages to correct redlinks where a few minor schools haven't a page of their own. We are adding missing infobox content where we can. Lots to do.
BTW, one of my great uncles was a member of the Minnesota chapter in its early years. For a time it had been Delta Chi's oldest chapter, but with Cornell re-established it is the oldest continually-active chapter of the fraternity, and its second oldest active chapter.
