Episode notability

[edit]

Many or all of the existing individual episode pages for this series appear to fail the notability guidelines for television episodes, and have been tagged accordingly. These articles can be improved through the inclusion of real-world information from reliable sources to assert notability. Overly long plot summaries should be edited, to a maximum length of approximately ten words per minute of screen time. Trivia should be integrated into the body of the article, or removed if it is not directly relevant. Quotes and images should only be used as part of a critical analysis of the episode. You might also consider merging any notable information onto the show's "List of episodes" or season pages. Otherwise, when these pages come up for review in fourteen days, they may be redirected, merged or deleted. If you want any help or further information, then come to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television/Episode coverage. Thanks. TTN 23:34, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Such tags as remained by now (August 2008) I have removed. This is an inappropriate use of the notability tag. The articles may, in some cases, need more work. But the notability of the series cannot be doubted by any serious editor. Setwisohi (talk) 22:15, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for doing that, they're just the remnants of the whole TTN episode notability affair. Bob talk 22:24, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

78.145.119.91 appears to be vandalising the page, and seems to have been doing so since 20/June. I've reverted his changes, and will keep a watch on the page Kirbett (talk) 10:03, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sketches and short films section - some issues

[edit]

There are a couple of things here which are slightly inconsistent with other articles. Firstly although it was not it's official title at the time, the 1968 Christmas Night with the Stars sketch has come to be called "Santa on Patrol" and indeed that is the title of the article on it. Therefore would it not make sense to list as something like "Untitled Christmas Short (aka Santa on Patrol)"? Secondly there is an issue about running times of these sketches. I have noted at Talk:Santa on Patrol that article has two slightly different running times to the nine minutes given here. The bigger issue is the statement - which is unsourced as far as I can see - "The 1969 sketch ran for twenty minutes". The article for said sketch Resisting the Aggressor Down the Ages gives a running time of 10 minutes. One of these must be wrong. Dunarc (talk) 20:02, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"This was the very first colour episode of Dad's Army to air in colour, as the BBC One colour television service commenced transmission on Saturday 15 November 1969."

[edit]

Is that so? I don't dispute the date but there were colour test transmissions going on before that date on the new UHF frequencies for BBC1 and ITV and a lot of content got screened on the two frequencies as tests before the big day. All of the pre-launch episodes of Monty Puthon Season 1 were given test tranmissions - it seems likely to me that the same was bestowed upon the earlier Dad's Army Season 3 episodes. Death dates of actors

[edit]

Is it really necessary to note the death dates of each actor? i.e. "Arthur Lowe (died 1982, Captain George Mainwaring), John Le Mesurier (died 1983, Sergeant Arthur Wilson)," etc.

It seems completely irrelevant, and I don't see any other episode lists doing the same thing. 152.78.210.207 (talk) 11:36, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
