WayneRay 00:28, 23 February 2006 (UTC)WayneRay NOTE to new contributors, (while I have had criticisms of my own contributions to Wiki) please don't add your name or anyone else's unless you have all the information to put on the appropriate related page. Listing a name means nothing without the accompnying information in a non vanity, non personal manner. Thanks[reply]

Dead Links have been removed, if you wrote this article please add full articles for each new link, don't just list names where no information exists and please put dates with the names. Thanks for your cooperation WayneRay 13:28, 27 March 2007 (UTC)WayneRay[reply]

I have added Barton back to the list.--ukexpat (talk) 21:22, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Removed songwriter

[edit]

The list is for people notable for their poetry, not the lyrics of their songs. I've removed Gordon Downie because I didn't see evidence in the Wikipedia article that he's a published poet. If there's evidence, and it's presented either in a footnote here or in the WP article on him, we should add him back. Reconsideration (talk) 20:05, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gordon Downie

[edit]

Gordon Downie published Coke Machine Glow through Random House's Vintage imprint in 2001. It was a companion piece to his solo CD, but it was indeed a book of poetry in its own right, and was read and reviewed as such. BobDobolina (talk) 23:33, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed from list

[edit]
  • Kevin Taylor only points to a disambiguation page; can't find any evidence on the Web that there is a published, notable Canadian poet by that name. Please don't return the name to the list unless he has an article or a footnote proving notability can be provided. Reconsideration (talk) 20:30, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of Robert Zend

[edit]

I recently added Robert Zend to this list, and twice his entry was removed. Could someone please explain to me why it is being removed?Stunnedplankton (talk) 22:37, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK, someone just wrote "blue links only." (I had linked his name to his entry on "The Canadian Encyclopedia".) However, I would like to draw your attention to the following Wikipedia guideline for lists:

"Red-linked entries are acceptable if the entry is verifiably a member of the listed group, and it is reasonable to expect an article could be forthcoming in the future."

Wikipedia:LSC#Selection criteria

Thus, the link to The Canadian Encyclopedia entry is acceptable as demonstration of Zend's notability as an important Canadian poet. This is not an indiscriminate addition, but an addition of an important contributor to Canadian culture. Here is his entry:

http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.com/articles/robert-zend

Please do not remove Robert Zend from this list, as he belongs here and certainly meets notability requirements. Stunnedplankton (talk) 23:53, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

But read higher up this page, the inclusion criterion for this list appears to be that subjects must have a Wikipedia article about them - ie no red links and no external links.--ukexpat (talk) 01:29, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Robert Zend is now in mainspace, albeit as a stub. I have updated the list accordingly.--ukexpat (talk) 17:06, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
