The article previously stated that he was wearing a "Gallantry Star" from the Williamsport, PA Bureau of Police. Peralta's character has never worked anywhere but NYPD, thus he would not have earned an award from another agency as an employee. Furthermore, police departments in different jurisdictions have medals and commendation bars that are the same, but given for different things.
