Notability

[edit]

This is a list of notable British architects but there are a large number of redlinked names which provide no evidence of notability. WP:LSC gives a fairly clear guide to who should, and who should not be included in a 'List' article.
I've started to look at the list of recent/living architects and architectural practices, adding sources to the redlinked names if I can find them. There are a number of them I have been unable to find clear evidence that they are notable (as defined by Wikipedia). Most of them could possibly be notable so I've left them in the list to give someone else the opportunity to provide evidence. There were a few whose notability is in serious doubt and I have deleted them.
The same rule of thumb should apply to the long-dead redlinked architects too. Sionk (talk) 15:15, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

John Macduff Derick - propose he is moved to the Victorian architects section

[edit]

I'm looking at some material regarding Derick and intend to create a page for him in the near future.

He's currently in the Architects who emigrated section. I think it would be a better reflection of his career if he were moved to the Victorian section as he spent almost all of his career in Britain and Ireland, with a short spell in India. He moved to USA in 1858 and died there in 1859 and had few commissions before his death.

Yes, he is was an architect who emigrated, but his primary work was as a British/Irish architect. Probably he ought to be in both sections, but if we have to choose I think he ought to be in the Victorian.

Has anyone any thoughts on this? MEDChambers (talk) 04:23, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The page would be more complete with: Charles Fitzroy Doll https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Charles_Fitzroy_Doll
