Giving some characters their own pages

[edit]

As the information becomes avaliable, would it be a good idea to give Kariya Jin his own page?RedEyesMetal 17:56, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Probably not. The Boumt Arc is already finished and we hardly know enough to make an article for him. Plus, he's a dead filler character, don't expect to know anymore about him. Reaper21 18:24, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is a page about him.... http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Jin_Kariya And he may be a filler; And the filler may have sucked, even. But I think the bounts were amazing. Dokuhebi (talk) 17:34, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ordering

[edit]

The character ordering on this page seems extremely strange. Was there any reasoning or is it just random? I suggest ordering by order of appearance except Magashi, Sawatari, Ugaki and Yoshi which should be ordered alphabetically. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 08:11, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's alphabetical by first name, using Hō for Hō and Ban. --tjstrf 08:13, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kariya Jin/Eugene Carrier

[edit]

As regards the citation needed tag, in the cfredits for Episode 83 Jin's character is credited, literally as 'Yujiin Kariya', in katakana (the Japanese alphabet usually used for English names. While there is little doubt 'Yujiin' is meant to be the English name Eugene, translating Kariya to Carrier is somewhat guessork, though it would be somthing like it, since Kariya itself is not a Western name.

They also said it in one of the episodes, but I don't really feel like rewatching 5 or 10 filler episodes to figure out which one... --tjstrf Now on editor review! 21:59, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey guys, I'm the one that added Koga and Jin's alternative names so long ago. I never checked in this discussion area, unfortunately. The names in katakana are Yuujin Kariaa and Kuraudo Gougan. I got the romanizations for them by searching around the internet with these names written in Japanese and found that people with the name Eugene write their name in Japanese as Yuujin and the last name Currier is written as Kariaa. As another example, my name is spelled Danieru in Japanese. For Koga, the name Claude Gauguin was found in the same way. I hope that helps a little bit. :) -- User: kangarugh22

Ritz vs Liz

[edit]

Rencently I noticed a revert to the spelling Ritz. I can honestly say this spelling puzzles me and I don't really agree with it. Is it official? Because it would be strange to spell Rizu (リズ) as Ritz, when, if it was really intended to be Ritz in English/German, they could easily have used Ritsu (リツ) or Rittsu (リッツ) in Japanese? I think Liz makes more sense. Or maybe another alternative. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 05:14, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I fully agree. Personally, I suggest "Liese", an actual - though not popular nowadays - German first name that would be spelled in romaji as Riizu, which is exactly what I hear Mabashi say when he calls his doll. --Aquisgranum 15:03, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would go for 'Riss', because it also means crack in German and it has the correct spelling LordofHavoc 11:19, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm the original person that translated it as Ritz. If you search the internet with リズ you'll find "Ritz" on a lot of web sites. Since the Bount have a German/European theme, I figured it would be the best translation. User:kangarugh22
its a pun.. Riss means crack in german, but it also means squirrel in japanese, and that guy actually looks like some sort of a squirrel.. 212.59.135.33 01:55, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, 1 problem is that the article has both spellings...one or the other guys. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.87.69.48 (talk) 00:24, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A Page For Koga?

[edit]

Considering he was the second most prominent Bount in the arc, and that he's still alive and may return in future episodes (just because the anime's going back to the manga's storyline it doesn't mean it's going to follow it religiously); should Koga be given his own page? There is enough material to do so, I don't really see why he shouldn't. I will wait for other people's opinions though.143.239.127.45 18:04, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nah. If we were going to make any more Bount arc character pages, they would be for Yoshino and Ichinose, who had far more character relationships. If Koga does come back in a future arc, then you can make a page for him, not now based on a far-flung prediction. --tjstrf talk 18:07, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I made a page for Yoshino once, it got deleted. I'm willing to put Koga to a vote.143.239.127.45 18:08, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How? I didn't think you could actually create articles as an IP. --tjstrf talk 18:10, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was using my account, this one. I didn't sign in before I wrote the above lines though. My Yoshino page was deleted on the grounds that she was a non-notable character. Granted, she did only appear in 10 or so episodes. Nii-sama 18:12, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There was a reason for that. Since we've already split these characters off into their own list, further diffusing them will be counter-productive and spread the information far too thin. --tjstrf talk 18:17, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. I'll still listen to other people's opinions on a Koga page, but if no-one wants one yet I won't put one up.Nii-sama 18:22, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Christ. Plot significance does not mean shit in terms of him having his own article. If Koga EVER gets some real-world notability from a verifiable source, then we can talk. Until then, he remains on this page. StardustDragon 16:04, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One Bount seems to be missing from the list...

[edit]

I was just watching the Bount arc and realized that one of the Bount is missing from the list. Unless the Bount that I'm referring to happens to be Cain (which I doubt), he has fairly long dark hair (it's hard to tell what color hair he has on my computer), an outfit similar to that of a lieutenant from Soul Society except without the sleeves, and wields a sword. Does anyone know who I'm talking about? // PoeticDecay 23:02, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind. If I had only kept my mouth shut until I was done watching the next episode (for me that would be 74), I would have known that the Bount that I'm talking about is Ichinose, an ex-shinigami. Nonetheless, shouldn't he be listed on this page? Or is it unnecessary because he's not a Bount? // PoeticDecay 23:02, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why would a non-Bount be listedo n a list of Bounts? StardustDragon 16:05, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, I think hes on the soul reaper page.~ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.87.69.48 (talk) 19:42, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationales for images

[edit]

This article is in imminent danger of losing its important images. I have added fair use rationales as best I can for two of the images, but I would appreciate some support. Anyone who feels that this article would be lessened by the removal of its images should take a moment to add a fair use rationale to some of the images. I am sure that these images are all valid fair use, but if we don't tell anyone then we can't expect this fair use to be respected. -- Lilwik 02:33, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hō and Ban

[edit]

I know there's not much source for it, but in the first episode where Hō and Ban appeared, there was a mention by one of them, I don't actually recall which, that "They'll never guess that I'm actually your doll," or something along those lines. Could someone have a look to see if there's any sourcing to verify if one of them is actually the others doll, and the water spouts are just spouts? If you look at the rest of it, every other bount's doll can talk, with the exception of Kariya's, cause it's part of Kariya himself, so it kinda makes sense. Z.210.10.201.116 01:39, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering about that as well, I don't get what he means. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Reaper21 (talkcontribs) 14:15, August 30, 2007 (UTC)

No idea... One being the other's doll would make sense, considering the Bounts arnt know to be telepathic; Not to mention the spouts can be controlled by both of them, and no other bounts are known to controll other dolls. MY guess is one is, in fact, a doll. And the spouts where a trick. One of them most likly manipulates the water; and uses the water to hold up the spouts. As far as the "syncing" goes, that may very well be a trick also. Or, it is possible that the Doll Connection is so strong, that the non-doll may have the same powers as the doll? This is just a guess, though. Dokuhebi (talk) 17:42, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Udagawa or Utagawa?

[edit]

His name is spelt both ways on the page, but can anyone provide a source stating what his real name is? The kanji provided on the page can be read either way. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 14:36, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

apparently we're going with Uda, as per Uru's edit StardustDragon 05:00, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge of Jin Kariya

[edit]

I've suggest that the Jin Kariya article be merged into this list. As per WP:FICT guide lines and the Anime/Manga MOS, individual characters are not inherently notable. The Jin article is almost entirely plot which fails the fiction notability requirements, and it fails the core notability requirement of needing to have "received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." I think Jin is actually already pretty well covered in this list, though if any other key notes about his personality, role in the series, etc they could fit in fairly easily. AnmaFinotera (talk) 02:59, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So you did follow my advice. Merge fully endorsed per WP:FICT. (Whatever incarnation we are using currently that is. God I hate policy disputes.) Sasuke9031 (talk) 07:01, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You and me both...especially when they are going all over the place (I think its up to four different places its being discussed). :P AnmaFinotera (talk) 07:02, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Teah I agree with the merger too I honestly don't feel any filler or movie specific character is notable enough for there own page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bushido Brown (talkcontribs) 21:53, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

He was the most notable of the Bounts and was the major villian for an arc,(even if it was filler). He deserved his own page. Now no Bounts have there own page!Earthbendingmaster (talk) 21:22, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Being the most notable of the Bounts is like being the cleanest piece of sh*t in a pile of sh*t. StardustDragon 05:01, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It has been suggested that this article or section be merged

[edit]

Why merge with list of characters, but not with the article Bount? --deerstop (talk) 17:14, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Two Problems I have with this page

[edit]

The Bount Race as a whole used to have its own article, but not that page is gone for some reason, and the change in the list at the bottom does not reflect this. if someone clicks on the link that says Races-Bounts, they will now not learn about bounts but about characters that are bounts. Theres no page that even says what they are anymore.

Also, All of the pictures are gone. If those were removed because they had to be, well, fine. But If at least some of the pictures can stay, especially Kariya's picture, then why isnt it here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.87.69.48 (talk) 13:07, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Undue weight Suigetsu 18:27, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I dont understand what you mean. Undue Weight has to do wit point of view. My problem is a lack of important facts. At least explain yourself a bit instead of posting a 2 word answer and assuming that everyone knows exactly what you mean by it. Although my first problem was fixed tho. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.87.69.48 (talk) 23:52, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also I noticed that the page doesnt list its references. Why is that?

Undue weight refers to giving a topic more coverage than is needed. We don't need pictures for stupid filler characters that appear in maybe 2 episodes. Hell, we don't even have pictures for most of the Soul Reapers in that list, much less Bounts. If someone doesn't understand a "two word answer," they can always click the link. No references are listed because no references exist aside from the anime itself. Suigetsu 18:27, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, alright. My main problem has been fixed though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.87.69.48 (talk) 20:58, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
