[edit]why is there [edit] filds by the months now? It adds lines when copy the information thet was not there before.
@Rusted AutoParts: It doesn't really matter how long they will be red and I'm not sure where this mentality that red links are to be rejected is coming from. The fact is, many of the red links have drafts (you probably created a lot of them). The red links are to encourage editors to create the article. Look if it makes you feel better, if half of the red links are not blue by the end of January, I will go through and create the pages/move drafts myself. Mike Allen 21:09, 14 December 2023 (UTC)

Add genre to table?
[edit]I'm thinking that genre would be nice to have next to the title in order to get a better overview/understanding. Would allow for quicker browsing when looking for inspiration and also better memorability when looking back on past years later. Patricafdw (talk) 12:10, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- Pleeeeese noooo. We have enough time with edit wars on individual articles now involving genres. Readers can click the link to go to the article to learn even more about the film. Mike Allen 15:51, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
Music
[edit]I would like to see music composer(s) listed here. I tried to add it, and my changes were immediately undone with no discussion. Millions of people follow film music, and it is a major element films. MatBane (talk) 22:12, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
Worldwide gross
[edit]Can we add another table that ranks the films by worldwide gross? 2600:8800:296:1300:C958:4C06:16A7:B786 (talk) 20:35, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
Missing movies
[edit]Paddington in Peru is missing Mika E. Cohen (talk) 15:47, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
- Maybe because it's being released first in the UK?— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 21:45, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- I added We Live in Time but User:KingArti reverted and won't answer on their talk page. This person has edited the article since, so I don't know what's going on. Also, there were formatting problems with the table after I added it. Can someone fix these?— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 17:27, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- Oh, wait, I see. White means the movie has not been released yet.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 21:03, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- As for the movie I added, Draco9904 reverted with the summary "We Live in Time is NOT an American production or co-production". This would have been appreciated earlier either in an edit summary or on one the talk pages.
- I assumed any movie we could see was on this list.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 21:44, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
Major accessibility and sorting problems
[edit]The table in this article contains major accessibility and sorting problems. The "Opening" column is inaccessible and does not sort correctly. I recommend that the dates be fixed using {{Date table sorting}}, as was done at List of Tulu films of 2023. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:09, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Jonesey95:, could you give a suggestion of what it could look like on the talk page? I just want to make sure I know what you mean before I go ahead either way on what you are suggesting. Andrzejbanas (talk) 22:33, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- Sure. Here's a selection from the January–March table. Notice that the Opening column is now sortable and accessible to screen readers. – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:14, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
- Why hasn't this change been made to the article yet? using a cell phone it is almost impossible to know which month I am researching without dragging my finger on the cell phone screen several times up or down several times. Theys York (talk) 20:27, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- It's on my to-do list, but we are all volunteers here. Feel free to make the changes yourself if you are able and willing. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:44, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

- Thanks @Jonesey95:. Definitely far more readable. I'm curious if we should maybe cut down on the director / cast part? I think it would be useful to recognize the film, but if this is a list based on countries based on production, the cast and crew might be a bit excessive information per WP:WEIGHT. My heart isn't really set on this, but its not exactly "sortable" via the sort tables command and is also a bit chunky in its details. We say crew, but just list the director, writer. Perhaps just limit to a director in its own field and keep cast seperate (and unsortable?) Either that or maybe we should scrap it. Thoughts? Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:53, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
- I have no opinion about the content; I am here only to address the accessibility and sorting problems. Maybe you could start a separate discussion about the content of the columns. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:34, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
- Fair point. I'd say for accessibility this is superior for all the reasons you have stated. I would lose the sort command on cast and crew as there is no logical thing we're sorting through on it though. We should probably also sort titles through film titles like The Bricklayer & The Painter so they can be alphabetized as B and P respectively. Andrzejbanas (talk) 16:39, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
- Support the above table. Gonnym (talk) 09:17, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Theys York:, @Gonnym:, and @Jonesey95:. I took at stab at re-sorting the table. I made a few changes to the above. Per WP:SLASH ("Generally, avoid joining two words with a slash, also called a forward slash, stroke or solidus ( / ), because it suggests that the words are related without specifying how.) so I've removed the slash on the production companies. I've removed the sort on the director/crew/etc. list as that's such a large section, I'm not sure what it should sort by that would read as "obvious" to a reader (director is listed first, so maybe them?). I've added sort tags to films that start with "The" and production companies that do the same. That said, there is (was?) a discussion ongoing at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Film#Consensus_needed_for_film_list_style about how to organize these pages going forward. My current suggestion is not unlike what my past edit was, but to trim the fat on them entirely to just production company, title, and release. I don't think that will be popular, but as you are all interested in these types of articles, your opinion is more than welcomed. Andrzejbanas (talk) 02:58, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- No need to sort the crew table in my opinion. If there isn't a logical sort then it's just random and so sorting by random words isn't helpful. I'm also not sure the crew column is even correct in such an overview table. I agree with your weight argument. Gonnym (talk) 10:25, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks @Gonnym:. It might be good to place this comment in the WP:FILM talk page article there where it will probably get more notice and potentially encourage further discussion to reach some sort of consensus. Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:50, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- After editing the table, it has since been reverted here and maybe a bit confusingly, removed the sort on the titles from here. . We are getting a bit closer to getting an agreed upon new style here. If anyone would want to weigh in, we can probably come to something more and without bloat through the articles. Tagging @Coolelvin2: to weigh in if they can as they removed some of the previous edits and has not weighed in on the discussion yet. Andrzejbanas (talk) 18:11, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
