Rootsweb is not a Reliable Source

Editors here should be aware that family genealogy sources like Rootsweb, Ancestry, and so on are not "Reliable Sources" as defined by Wikipedia policy. They, like Wikipedia, can be edited by anybody, and must not be assumed to be reliable in themselves. If you find a source there (or here), and it turns out to be usable, that's another matter, but you are then tracing and validating the real source, not the user-edited text.
