Lippstadt barracks and airfields
[edit]I happened to live in Lippstadt for some 20 years. Thanks for the nice article!
Unfortunately, this article seems to mix information on two or three different military installations from the 1930s & 1940s in and around Lippstadt:
1) There was the 'Fliegerhorst Lipperbruch' airfield, together with the 'Richthofen-Kaserne' barracks. This airfield was later developed to become the village of 'Lipperbruch' after the war, now a district in the northeastern suburbs of Lippstadt (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lipperbruch). After the war new barracks were erected on one part of the old airfield. They were first used by the British Army (194?-1955) and then by the Bundeswehr (1956-200?, 'Lipperland Kaserne').
2) There were the 'Flak-Kaserne' barracks, built for anti-aircraft gunners of the Wehrmacht. These barracks were used by British forces after the war, until the 1990s ('Churchill Barracks'). They were located in the southeast of Lippstadt city, a few hundreds of meters north of the lat/lon location given in the article. (Today the barracks have been transformed to a residential and business area, although most of the old military buildings are still standing.) BUT, there was never an airfield at this location.
3) There was the 'Fliegerhorst Stormede' which was another airfield about 10 km southeast of Lippstadt, somewhat halfway between the city of Lippstadt and the modern airport Paderborn-Lippstadt. It was more of an improvised airfield before WW2 ('Feldflugplatz') with real barracks only built during the war. (Today back in agricultural use, being part of a district of Geseke.)

Coordinate error
[edit]{{geodata-check}}
The following coordinate fixes are needed for Lippstadt Airfield. The used coordinates shows the Churchill barracks in the south of Lippstadt, the airfiled was northeast of the center, as already posted at the talk above. The correct Google coordinates are 51.706284, 8.363144 (that points at Richthofenstrasse, the former entrance and guard house to the complex of the garrison and airfield). I'm sorry, but I'm not common with the infobox at WP:EN and the transcription from Google to WPS. Filiusque (talk) 13:28, 11 September 2015 (UTC) —Filiusque (talk) 13:28, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
- Done. I've gone with the coordinates given at this page (which are a wee bit northeast of the ones you suggested), since that's an available source that can be used for verification. Thanks for pointing out the error. Deor (talk) 14:44, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for fixing...:it's still oK, the coordinates point the center of the former airfield.--Filiusque (talk) 15:33, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
