Fixer-upper

[edit]

-Smakers started in 1991 with the orange pop lip gloss.

-I fixed up the beginning a tad. I wasn't sure what to choose for sources, so it still needs work there.--seventhtrilogy 17:39, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

-This page needs more information and needs to be cleaned up a mite. Some of the information here -- likes the connection provided between animals and lip gloss -- seems irrelevant and unlikely. Please clean up. Thanks. --Catchthedream 01:07, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is nothing wrong with the article's formatting, so the cleanup tag is inappropriate. Dysprosia 01:45, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Correct, the formatting is fine; it's the informality of the article and grammatical mistakes which require cleanup. Sources are not cited. An appealing picture would be nice. --Catchthedream 01:59, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The cleanup tag is not for "informality" and "grammatical mistakes" (where are the mistakes, if it is problematic somehow for you to fix these mistakes yourself?), it's for formatting problems, but I'm not going to get into an edit war with you on this. Please highlight exactly where you see the faults in the article and let's actually fix them. Dysprosia 02:26, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you're right, the grammatical part can be fixed without harming the article's main idea. The main fault lies in the lack of sources, and the need to elaborate upon and separate ideas. Thanks. --Catchthedream 02:42, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What exactly is wrong with the grammar in the article? Can you please highlight concrete examples of bad grammar in the article, so the can be fixed? Dysprosia 02:51, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. For the most part, standard grammar rules are correct. The problem is in the phrasing; some parts sound/read awkward. For example, in "Lip glosses are moisturizing and often add a plumping effect to the lips. A technique that emphasizes this is placing one dot of clear gloss in the center of the top and bottom lips," exactly -what- does the technique emphasize? Furthermore, the fact that lip glosses moisturize seems entirely out of place upon first glance. --Catchthedream 02:58, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

flavors

[edit]

I think another reason adults would buy Lip Smackers, is the flavors. Most adult cosmetics don't have a flavor, except maybe something that tastes a bit waxy. The flavors are a good way to deal with food cravings, that may be detremental to one's diet. Like, if you crave chocolate and put on chocolate lip gloss. It's the flavor of chocolate with no calories. Also it's just fun, to wear lip gloss that tastes good. I can see why some people might find it perhaps immature to like Lip Smackers beyond the teenage years. However, if you're just looking to mosturize your lips, why not have fun doing it?

i agree..=] Pretty Ricky aint breakin up yall! yay!! Tam` Tam` =] 21:16, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can we have a photo of some lips that have actually been glossed? Daniel Case 16:15, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why is there no section containing the base of lip gloss? Shouldn't people be made aware they are spreading animal fat on their lips? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.116.132.101 (talk) 01:18, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

1973?

[edit]

Can this be correct? I dated a girl in college in 1971 who wore strawberry-flavored lip gloss or lipstick. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:CF99:2080:ADD0:9C9E:7B7A:91B6 (talk) 18:59, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Lip gloss is usually sticky and wet

[edit]

Why doesn't this article mention it? Is lip gloss adhesive? WorldQuestioneer (talk) 20:42, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
