Is DHCP compulsory on the LTSP server? What if you're running on a LAN that already has another DHCP server? - asb

DHCP is not compulsory on LTSP, but it is recommended, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/LTSPWindowsDHCP for information on how to use a windows DHCP server with the LTSP (I'd assume that the same concept would apply to any other DHCP server that lets you set exclusion rules)

Status of Deworks

[edit]

I was unable to find any recent content for the Deworks project. Even on http://www.deworks.net, the sinle link (index.php) gives a '404 Error'.

If this was confirmed, LTSP article should be updated, shouldn't it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kozaki (talkcontribs) 13:26, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

diffrence between LTSP 4 and 5 has a bad citation

[edit]

clicking on it leed to the diffrences between LTSP standard LTSP and ubuntu LTSP not 4 and 5 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Passstab (talkcontribs) 16:01, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete/ambiguous sentence

[edit]

In the first section (after the intro paragraphs) of the article, the section describing the boot process for LTSP, in point 4, it says:

The client then loads Linux from the NFS mounted root filesystem (or NBD filesystem image) and
starts the X Window system. At this XDMCP login manager on the LTSP server. In case of the
newer MueKow (LTSP v5.x) setup,.......

The bolded sentence is not even a sentence, and doesn't even make any sense to me. Can someone familiar with LTSP fix that?

There's a new version

[edit]

According to https://ltsp.org/, there was a rewrite in 2019 which is now LTSP 19.08. But this article goes back to the time where LTSP 5 was new. 217.147.217.161 (talk) 14:15, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect description/overview

[edit]

LTSP is made for fat clients, and is no longer recommended for thin clients for quite a while now.

Description should be updated as LTSP allows many computers to boot from the same "os temple", making it easier to deploy the same version of software and operating system without manually installing them. 92.40.202.234 (talk) 08:30, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
