Hello
[edit]Hello,
Recently, my brother has been diagnosed with 'Linitis Plastica', a rare form of cancer of the gastrointestinal tract. I was wondering if anyone has a good source of information about this cancer, I have found it very difficult to research due to it being a very rare cancer.
Does anyone know of someone who has had this cancer before and how it was treated? Was the treatment effective?
Due to this cancers' nature, it was diagnosed a bit late, the cancer has infected over 80% of the GI tract and invaded the lymph nodes and possibly the pancreas. Is there an effective way to slow down it's growth/spread? Is it possible to urgically remove the pancreas altogether if we were able to control the metastasis in the lymph nodes?
I am desperately seeking any information that may help.
Kindest regards, Tan
Im sorry about your brother
[edit]Tan, I also have someone that I love with this cancer. My aunt was diagnosed 2 years ago. She was on the last phase when she was diagnosed. She never had any noticable symtoms and the doctors said the tumers where to big for surgery. They gave her 3 months to live and its been almost 3 years. She refused any chemo at that time they diagnosed it and the doctors didn't perscribed any medicines. She drank natural teas and herbal medicines. I dont know if that is one of the reasons she is still alive but her attitude and faith have alot to do with it. She tries not to get down and fights hard to be in peace, she beleives in God and that there is a better place for her when she passes. The cancer is in 95% of her stomach, she has little blood in her body and she gets blood transfusions every so often. It has not afected any mayor organs but she has lasorations in the liver. 3 months ago she accepted the chemo therapy. It was chemo through the vains. It made her so sick and since she didn't have any defences she almost didn't make it. Her problem right now is that she has alot of water in her stomach and her stomach is so big she looks 9 months pregnant. Every 5 days she goes to the hospital to get some of it out. Her feet, legs and hands are very swolled and the water is already in one of her lungs. Right now she is taking a tea that seems to help her with the swollen of her body and it gives her a little more energy. I will ask her how she prepares it and i will let you know, maybe it can help your brother. I hope you are strong for him and patient. God Bless You.
