[edit]There is probably scope to go into greater detail about strain tensor fields, etc. here, but references for this are scarce, and I don't want to go down the route of original research/synthesis on this without them. -- Impsswoon (talk) 18:32, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
- OK: this is the first actual cite I can find about what I'm talking about above: [1] -- Impsswoon (talk) 18:35, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
- Update: there are definitely several mentions of strain field imaging, but I don't know what happened to that work. With the availability of high-quality open source vision processing software, the low cost of digital video cameras, and the availability of cheap polka-dot/checkerboard zentai suits, I think there's room for an enthusiastic amateur to follow up on this research. Having sufficient lack of self-consciousness to set up two cameras in a stereo pair and leap about in the zentai suit in front of them, then releasing the videos to the net and inviting the open source imaging community to do the rest, would probably suffice. -- Impsswoon (talk) 12:40, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
