AKEL and administration of Limassol
[edit]What is with all the AKEL writings? What that has to do with the administration of the Limassol? Totally irrelevant IMHO. Please revise, it gives the impression that Limassol is run by AKEL, which is far from reality! Write about the other municipalities and the suburbs of Limassol, how the city is run, about municipal elections, etc. Minatsu 05:34, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
Arrival of Germany? there was no "Germany" at that time. The nation of Germany was set up after the German unification by Prussia and Bismarck—Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.111.129.114 (talk) 16:52, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Merge tag
[edit]I'm not sure I see how Limassol Old Port can be expanded beyond a stub. If it can, great! If not, it should get merged into Limassol Kathy A. 22:02, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- I am working on a new article on the new port (which is a bit longer) and i think the old and the new port should be merged into "Limassol Ports" or something. Maybe even into "Ports of Cyprus" once the rest get a writeup StephP 11:57, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
twinned with Birmingham
[edit]ISTR that Limassol is twinned with Birmingham; I'll check when I'm back out there. Apepper 19:27, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Museums? Where ?
[edit]Museums ? Limassol is great place but " a great number of museums and archaeological sites" ? Err, NO : I count ONE museum and ONE site. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pimmscyp (talk • contribs) 07:08, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
I sort of agree - there aren't a *great* number of either, but I know of three museums in Limassol - there's one in the Castle, an archeological museum near the coast and a craft museum in the city centre. It depends how close to the city you count the archaeological sites, but there's Roman sites west and east of Limassol and the castle. A lot of the article looks like it's been written by the Cyprus Tourist Organisation!Apepper (talk) 21:52, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- There's also the Cyprus Wine Museum in Erimi Aussiewriter (talk) 19:41, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
I've removed the "great"; this whole paragraph reads like the tourist brochure and isn't cited. I know Limassol fairly well, but I don't have many sources to cite what I know (or think I know) so I'm loath to rewrite it, but I would have thought something along the lines:
"Limassol is the biggest port in the Mediterranean transit trade. Following the Turkish invasion in 1974, Limassol has replaced Kyrenia as the principle port for Cyprus." I'd like a citation for the biggest port in Mediterranean transit trade. Apepper (talk) 20:07, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Limassol Logo.png
[edit]Image:Limassol Logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 23:24, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

New port stuff sounds like advert...
[edit]The description of the proposed new port sounds like an advert - it hasn't been built yet, after all. Apepper (talk) 21:55, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- Related to that, I'm new, but shouldn't the link to "Limassol Marina" be included under external links and not within the text? Aussiewriter (talk) 19:41, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- I've toned down the Limassol marina sentence and removed the link. Apepper (talk) 08:56, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Municipality size
[edit]I was always debating that Limassol could not be Cyprus's largest municipality (in land size). Pegeia in Paphos is. Take a look before I edit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TomasNY (talk • contribs) 04:59, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
new photo montage
[edit]I replaced the old montage photo as it consists of 5 night views of the coast, and one shot of random kids jumping in water. The current one is intended to be more diverse and representative of the city. Karpouzi (talk) 04:44, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
