"restore PROD tag". Nah. At the time of the BLPPROD, I considered tagging the article for AfD myself. But, as part of a WP:BEFORE, noted that there was at least a few independent sources that covered the subject as a primary topic. Granted, the ones I found didn't cover the subject in any great depth. But it didn't seem clear-cut. Not for a PROD at any rate. Happy to contribute to an AfD process myself. But I don't think we should skip that step.
