Birth date

A lot of editors seem certain of her exact birthdate and have added it to the article. WP:BLPPRIVACY says we need something linked to her that shows she doesn't mind it being known. A YouTube video was posted purporting to have her giving out that info but when I viewed it it supported the month and day but gave conflicting information about the year – she said she was 21. The approximation is OK for now but we really need something from her for more detail than is more than just her joking about it. Geraldo Perez (talk) 13:28, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

Hey @Geraldo Perez:, I'm able to pinpoint date and month via this tweet, which was tweeted on September 26, 2012 00:15:09 British Time. The birth year can be determined as 1988 from this vlog called "The Time It Was My 27th Birthday (Day 332)" uploaded in 2015. This also makes it clear that she has no problem with her age being known. Thus, I added it back into the article. Adrio (talk) 17:59, 24 October 2016 (UTC)
@Adrio: Need both references attached to the date in the lead to support the exact date. Geraldo Perez (talk) 21:51, 24 October 2016 (UTC)
@Geraldo Perez: I'm sorry, I really cannot understand what you are trying to tell me. Non-English speaker here. Adrio (talk) 22:18, 24 October 2016 (UTC) [Edit: I mean English as first language Adrio (talk) 22:19, 24 October 2016 (UTC)]

Ethnicity in intro sentence

Per WP:BLPLEAD the intro sentences should establish notability, neutrally describe the person, and provide context. Context is the country where the person was a citizen, national or permanent resident when the person became notable. Ethnicity, religion, or sexuality should not be in the lead unless it is strongly relevant to the subject's notability. Her ethnicity, based on where her parents are from, is not relevant to her notability. She was born in Canada and became notable as a Canadian. She is Canadian and nothing else. Concerning Reverts from Dave2010

What's your problem, pal? I am complying with the guidelines for biographical living persons, and a lot of the information on the old article was very poorly sourced. xJJRosebrook

The new image looked like a copyright violation. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 21:11, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

I found it via Wikiimages. Joshua (xJJRosebrook) 21:12, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

Do you mean Wikimedia Commons? Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 21:13, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
Yes. Joshua (xJJRosebrook) 21:14, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
My issue is you've removed a lot of cited content ... could you explain what part of this article fails BLP as I can't see anything ....
If any part of the article is poorly sourced then you replace source ... not just remove it entirely (although again had you came here first it could've all been discussed and the sections etc could've been removed), Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 21:18, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
Did you actually read the article I edited? This personalty doesn't have a lot of information out there, and there were some where the website in question felt unsecured for many people. Also, there was clear promotional, or advertising, throughout this page. And also, I'm not the only one. A person flagged it earlier this year for the same reasons. Did you actually read through the article? Joshua (xJJRosebrook) 21:34, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
Many BLPs don't have a lot of info out there however we use what we have, YouTube etc are absolutely fine especially when it's a YouTube BLP, Some think YouTube is fine whilst others think it's not a source and shouldn't be anywhere near an article in terms of being used as a reference however it goes back to what i said before - We use what we have, I have read the article and as a whole the previous version was absolutely fine but thank you for your edits anyway. Happy editing. –Davey2010Talk 22:28, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

Off topic but Joshua your signature violates WP:SIGLINK as it doesn't link to your userpage or talkpage. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 21:52, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

Dubious middle name

In 2015, an anonymous user added a BLP violation in the form of unsourced middle name. Their only other edit on this project was to vandalize a template. On that very day, another anon user corrected the middle name (without providing any source). That IP is blocked from a long time. In short, the unsourced middle name has remained here since 10 November 2015. Those who don't know the context, Saini is an Indian caste. And caste POV pushers add these unsourced caste claims/surnames in Indian articles on a daily basis, which are then copied from WP by the careless Indian media. Note that Saini isn't even a middle name, and mentioning caste in BLPs without self-identification is not allowed on this project (see here). Anyway, I will remove this middle name which seems to be originated from this project itself. Please reinstate it if someone could either locate a media source dating prior to 10 November 2015 or a scholarly source of any date, as, unlike media, scholars rarely copy content from this project. Thanks. - NitinMlk (talk) 18:31, 28 November 2019 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 12 May 2020

I'm sorry to be so pedantic and it's just one word, but under the Early Life section, in the first line the word 'district' should be 'suburb' (we don't have districts in Toronto, we have suburbs & Scarborough used to be a city and is now a suburb of Toronto). I say this because I'm from Scarborough, Ontario also.

So the line should (hopefully) read: Singh was born and raised in the Scarborough suburb of Toronto, Ontario.

(Thank you for reading this.) Celtic mama (talk) 17:38, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

This needs a reword. She was born in the borough of Scarborough; it didn't get amalgamated until 1998. How about "...raised in Scarborough in metropolitan Toronto, Ontario"? —C.Fred (talk) 17:44, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
The article Scarborough,_Toronto uses the word district to decribe it in several places, so I don't think it is wrong to use the word here. RudolfRed (talk) 17:47, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit semi-protected}} template. Otherwise, provide a reliable source to verify your edit request. {{replyto|Can I Log In}}'s talk page! 20:08, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Can you please update this page? I can't since I don't have an account and since it is protected. It says as of September 2019 but it is June 2020 now. 97.113.20.87 (talk) 02:49, 19 June 2020 (UTC)

The source was written in December 2019 and used September 2019 data. Without a new source, there's no way to update. —C.Fred (talk) 02:54, 19 June 2020 (UTC)
