Vandalism?

[edit]

208.254.22.50, if you want to write a section disputing the authenticity of the reports, then please cite sources. Adding "there is no light! it is all a myth!" to the links section doesn't seem acceptable for a Wikipedia article. DMAJohnson 19:02, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

MAP?!

Need a location map. 65.163.115.114 (talk) 22:03, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More cleanup/research may be needed

[edit]

Might want to clean up anything which looks like it is from a personal point of view to keep it in Wiki standards. Also, more railroad history research on this would be good. Seems to be the focal point of the area. JungleCat 18:54, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Some Back History

[edit]

Check with WWW.TSHA.UTEXAS.EDU to verify this, but I believe the rail down that particular road was installed in 1901 and deconstructed in the 1930's. It was used as a fast mode of transportation for the then thriving lumber industry in Hardin County. It might help solve the mystery of the light itself, or at least narrow down a particular myth for the light's origin, except for the fact that there are stories of the light that predate the railroad's existence.

The light is for real, I saw it when I was a teenager on at least twenty different occasions. One time in particular it came very close to the front of my vehicle. I even ducked down in the back seat of the car as I thought it may come thru the winshield. The front passenger ducked under the dash as well screaming hystericaly. Funny enough, I remember the driver of the vehicle stuck his head outside of the vehicle and stated "Thats very interesting" I remember also telling the driver to put his head back in the car because the ghost may claim your head. Afterall, it was suppose to be a headless guy. It was approximately two feet in front of the car and about 5 feet above the ground floating. It was the shape of a basketball and was the color of fire. I don't beleive it was swamp gas but I know for sure it was not a vehicle of anykind nor was it a motorcycle. It did not have a face or body but it was just a strange ball of light that bounced in a strange pattern and faded away in a blink of an eye. Just thought I would share!!!!!
