I haven't seen this movie yet, but I plan to on Netflix. But based on the plot noted here, it reminds me a lot of "Ruthless People" where husband Danny De Vito refused to pay ransom for his wife Bette Midler, to kidnappers Judge Reinhold and Helen Slater.
