I have slightly improved this section:
- mentioned Britain and Ireland
- generalised the explanation to goose barnacles in general
- modified word order in one sentence
I feel that this section needs further improvements, including:
- link to Barnacle goose myth - either directly in the text or (to be decided) in a separate 'see also' section
- perhaps, link to Gerald of Wales
- perhaps, mention both barnacle goose and brant goose
