Love At First Sight
[edit]According to Prof. Lloyd Ultan, New York City Historian, and Bronx Emeritus, Jenny Jerome, the daughter of Leonard W. Jerome, first met Lord Randolph Chruchill at a horse meet at "Jerome Park Racetrack". It was there that their eventual courtship and marriage started.

Was Leonard Jerome jewish???
[edit]Was Leonard Jerome jewish??? Both the names "Leonard" and "Jerome" are usually Jewish names. If Leonard Jerome himself was not Jewish, were his ancestors??? That would explain the name they gave him. Just wondering. Thanks in advance to anybody that knows.86.151.43.76 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 16:03, 27 August 2010 (UTC).
- No, he wasn't. You're confusing surnames & given names, as well as making assumptions about what are "usually" Jewish names. "Jerome" is a not uncommon surname in France and, as noted in the article, Leonard's antecedents were French Huguenots. Being Protestants, Huguenots also often gave their children Old Testament names; Leonard's father was Isaac and his grandfather was named Aaron. The Jerome family came to New York by way of London, like many other Huguenot immigrants to the U.S. (including some of my own ancestors). --Michael K SmithTalk 00:10, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
In what sense was Isaac Jerome a "distant descendant" of Timothy Jerome? He was born less than 70 years after Timothy arrived in the US -- making him, most likely, a great-grandson. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.154.129.163 (talk) 23:04, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
Financial career
[edit]Do we know any more about his career as a speculator? My understanding is that he made and lost several fortunes. How did he get started? What major market moves was he involved in (presumably the Panic of 1873, the Jay Cooke era)? How much was he worth at his peak(s)? How much was he worth when he died?Paulturtle (talk) 22:55, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
