History
I've run into this article because it is currently listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting - text has been deleted from the article but the corresponding references are still listed inside the {{Reflist}}. My usual fix for this is to comment out the unused references, but in this case the references do seem to support the deleted text. -- John of Reading (talk) 17:37, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
- It sounds like something invented by the company's marketing agency, and isn't supported by the New York Times story given as a citation (which states that "While starting up another company, Laplanche found it financially advantageous to borrow from friends, and he wondered whether an Internet version of this idea could be created for people without flush contacts."), which sounds muchmore plausible that the PR speak of "He was wondering if connecting investors to borrowers without the assistance of banks would let the borrowers borrow money at lower interest rates and the investors earn higher returns" after apparently realizing that his credit card had a higher interest rate than his bank account (!). Note that this article appears to have been created to advertise the company. Nick-D (talk) 06:58, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
