The description of the Australian legal status of Amanita is incorrect. The conversion of ibotenic acid to Muscimol is illegal so is the possession and consumption of Muscimol. The assumption that muscimol is a constituent of Amanita and therefore Amanita is illegal is not accurate. Many species in Australia contain schedule 9 drugs and are legal in Australia; some invasive species containing schedule 9 classification are also legal in specific States. Amanita can be found to grow naturally across Australia and currently not illegal to pick and possess, the legalisation is silent on actual fungi species. However, it is considered and invasive species and therefore Amanita is legal to import provided certain import conditions are met; fresh Amanita is illegal to import into Australia. 175.36.180.84 (talk) 10:44, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
