- ^ The only pertinent information here is the location of being raised and educational degree received.
- ^ The mentioning of education received at one institution as opposed to another can be problematic. For example, if a subject's article mentioned in one part that they received instruction for a semester at Harvard, then mentioned in a different sentence that their degree was in engineering, this may lead some readers to assume that the degree in engineering came from Harvard, although the article may not have explicitly said so. In this manner, partial education which may or may not have resulted in degrees from one institution mentioned in brief should be avoided, or else explained in great detail, so as to avoid misconceptions.
- ^ The reference for this claim was updated as requested.
- ^ This claim, while being Wikilinked to the wrong article, remains in this article with the correct name.
- ^ The claim is that the article's subject "led" these institutions and the institution's activities, with regards to their financial dealings. This is something that the references do not delineate. The word "lead" may be applicable to many different actions, and in these instances, what the word means and what it entails are questions which ought to be addressed in the proposed text.
- ^ Per WP:PEACOCK, recognition of the subject's philanthropic activities is not relevant here.
Early life and education
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Hi, I'm Jason, and I'm here on behalf of Lee Fixel via PR agency Finsbury as part of my work with Beutler Ink. As someone with a conflict of interest, I will abstain from directly editing the article and instead, post requests to be reviewed and implemented by volunteers. I've drafted new text, which you may review below, for the Early life and education section that includes improving the flow of the copy and removing a few inaccurate details. These claims are all supported by third-party sourcing:
Fixel earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration, finance, and accounting at the Washington University in St. Louis.[1]

- @AmericanAir88: Hello! I am looking for an active editor to review this request. I've asked for help at WikiProject Biography, WikiProject Finance & Investment, and WikiProject United States, but no editors have replied. I reached out to an active WikiProject F&I editor here, who suggested I try WikiProject Business. I noticed you're an active member of WikiProject Business, and figured I'd ask if you'd be willing to review these 2 sentences. Thanks for your consideration, Inkian Jason (talk) 15:57, 6 February 2020 (UTC)

Career
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. A reviewer felt that this edit would not improve the article. |
Hello again. While I'm waiting for the above request to be reviewed, I thought I'd go ahead and post a request to update the Career section as well.
This updated section improves the overall copy and flow, and describes Fixel's early career as well as his investments most frequently mentioned in popular media. The proposed text also mentions his 2019 resignation from Tiger Global Management, board positions, and his recurring position on Forbes' Midas List.
These details are all sourced with reliable, secondary coverage. I invite editors to review the following text for replacing the current section:

After graduation, Fixel became a licensed chartered financial analyst and began his career at Alkeon Capital Management, an investment firm.[1]
In 2006, Fixel joined Tiger Global Management, a New York-based investment firm.[2] He became a partner and head of the firm's private equity business, before his resignation in March 2019.[3] In a letter received by Reuters in March 2019, Fixel said he planned to continue investing independently.[4] He remains on the board of some portfolio companies, such as Warby Parker.[5][6] He has also served on the board of Peloton.[3] Among his most notable portfolio investments are Stripe, Peloton, Freshworks, and Spotify, as well as late-stage investments, including Facebook.[1][2][7][8] Fixel has invested in a number of Indian startups, most famously e-commerce company Flipkart, where he is a member of the board of directors, since 2009.[1][5][9] As of 2018, he has appeared on Forbes' Midas List six times over the course of his career.[1] References

[edit]- Some of the provided references do not originate from reliable, independent, secondary sources.
- Many of the ref tags are bundled together at the end of sentences. Ref tags should be placed immediately adjacent to the information they reference.

- @Spintendo: While I agree with what you said above, should you give Inkian a change to fix their request before denying it? I've worked with the user in the past, they are willing to change. I agree though that the sourcing needs to improve. AmericanAir88(talk) 18:28, 14 February 2020 (UTC)

[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
@AmericanAir88 and Spintendo: Thank you both for taking a look. Sorry, I've corrected a few of the source links to show the articles are published by reputable secondary sources. I also replaced Inc42 with a Mint source, and rearranged the citations so they are now placed immediately adjacent to claims.
Do you mind taking another look at this proposed section?

- Inkian Jason - I don't have an issue with this content and it seems to be an improvement. The final sentence might be seen as promotional and someone could remove it in the future (I don't personally see it that way, but I probably wouldn't object to its removal if someone else did). I think that's one of those things to keep it in and then if someone objects later reevaluate it then. The only thing keeping me from implementing this change is the livemint.com reference is defined multiple times with different content (H:CERDK). Would it be possible to fix that? Philanthropy
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Hello again! While I'm waiting for the above request to be reviewed, I thought I'd go ahead and post my final request for this article, this time to update the Philanthropy section. This proposed content below closely resembles the existing section, but hopefully improves copy and flow, and provides additional encyclopedic detail, such as the purpose of the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases. I invite editors to review the following text for replacing the current section:

Fixel, along with his wife, Lauren Fixel, co-founded the Lauren and Lee Fixel Family Foundation.[1] Together, the Fixels are one of the largest contributors to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to Parkinson's disease research.[1]
In January 2019, the Lauren and Lee Fixel Family Foundation donated $20 million to the University of Florida and UF Health to establish the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases.[2] The institute is focused on advancing research, technology, and clinical care for Parkinson's and other neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).[3] References

- I think this is just fine, generally. However, "one of the largest" is - I think - a little non-encyclopedic since it could be defined to mean any percentile of donors. I would prefer if this were not in WP's voice and were also linked to a specific point in time. Perhaps it could be written 'As of 2018 the Fixels were, according to Mint, among "the biggest contributors to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research".' Chetsford (talk) 18:08, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Chetsford: Thanks for reviewing. I am fine with your proposed wording. Please see the following updated markup:
