This is weird. Leah Dizon is Fil-Am (Filipino-American). How come it mentions nothing of her recent activities in the Philippines? She's made numerous TV appearances, joined a singing contest and has even appeared on the pages of FHM Philippines. Why is there no mention of that? O_O;;

She may just look "half White, half Filipino", but it is widely believed she has Chinese blood in her somewhere. Whether the ma or the dad, one of them was actually half Chinese or something like that. ★Dasani★ 02:13, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Look guys, Leah Dizon is not ethnic Filipino. On her official website it says her Dad is 中国系フィリピン人 = Chinese Filipino ie ethnic Chinese but born in the Philippines. It's correct to say that Dizon is part Filipino by NATIONALITY, but she is half French and half Chinese by ETHNICITY. This was awhile now, but I think it has been changed, because on her official website (the agency) profile, it says "国籍 : アメリカ人（フランス系アメリカ人の母と中国系フィリピン人の父とのハーフ） ". ("Her father is half Chinese half Filipino, and her mother is French-American.") I know that there is a minority group of Chinese living there, but her father is already mixed himself of both ethnicities. So, yes, whoever added that was correct. Nah, you're misunderstanding the Japanese. She herself and not the father is the "ハーフ" mentioned, so that description really says "Nationality: American (mother is French American and father is Chinese Filipino)". 193.77.211.33 (talk) 08:19, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

However, no one here has mentioned that Leah Dizon is actually a Japanese citizen; she moved from her hometown of Las Vegas (where she was born and raised) to Los Angeles. A couple years later, she was twenty years old and a fresh brand new model/entertainer in Tokyo, Japan. I am assuming she has since filed for citizenship. Anyway, even if she didn't at the time, she is now married to a native Japanese and citizen and has a baby daughter with him. Thus, she is a Japanese citizen. Dizon is unique in that she's not ethnicially Japanese, but she's a foreigner with citizenship; the other people just traveled but still lived in their respective countries with all due citizenship/passport. ★Dasani★ 03:54, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Actually, she never really met the qualifications for becoming a citizen, and marrying a Japanese citizen does not automatically make you a citizen yourself.

Hikaru and Dizon / March "Utaban"

I added a paragrpah on the episode of Utaban where Hikaru Utada and Leah Dizon appeared together.

I have her on a friend on myspace, and she has her parents' racial backgrounds backwards compared to the wiki article shown here. The page seems to be her official myspace page...

She is asked on her Frequently Asked Questions myspace Blog: Q. What is your ethnic background? A. My father is French-American. My mother is Filipina-Chinese.

I can't include the link because the blog's link is blacklisted...so....

But then again, she might be wrong herself. Or maybe it really isn't Leah's myspace.

Retirement Rumor

Japan Today published a rumor from weekly magazine Shukan Gendai that she is planning on retiring, due to stress and that "She was very shocked by some DVDs that were released in Japan, which include nude videos taken while she had been modeling in the U.S." http://www.japantoday.com/jp/news/427231 However, I doubt she'll actually retire and I don't know if rumors are appropriate for Wikipedia, but I thought it might be worth mentioning. Unnecessary edits

Lately, I've been noticing that there are a LOT of unverified or otherwise unnecessary edits to this article. Dizon's life is rather vague, and she's still too new in terms of being a celebrity — please give her a break!

1) There is absolutely NO need for us to use "Leah Dizon"; "Dizon" is perfectly acceptable (look at Britney Spears, Ayumi Hamasaki, and Tila Tequila.

2) Please don't touch the "Personal Life" section. All we know is that Dizon married a Japanese stylist supposedly named BUN. Not you, not your friend, not anybody else.

3) Dizon might of done pornos or whatever, but there aren't any reliable or appropriate sources now. Tila Tequila has some similar issues.

4) Don't rewrite sentences to become redundant or otherwise have grammatical errors! I've looked in these edits, and I've been forced to revert almost every single one of them. Trust me, I've taken a GED and am way above everyone else on reading and comprehension levels.

5) We know, we know, Dizon is NOT Japanese at all in blood. See my previous comment on this page:

I wonder if the Japanese consider her to be Japanese. Or a better question might be...if Tom Arnold moved to Japan and gained citizenship, is he now Japanese as well? The introductory paragraph stating that she is a "Japanese talent..." is misleading to say the least. Additionally, what's the deal with referring to Dizon as an "actress"? She's been in ONE movie that nobody's ever heard of. Bill O'Reilly has been in numerous documentaries, and acted in a nationally released film. Why isn't he credited as an "actor"? Someone either needs to alter several thousand wikipedia pages, or just this one to maintain consistency.

"I wonder if the Japanese consider her to be Japanese" They don't. Whenever she is mentioned, be it by the media, Oricon, or some fan, she's referred to as a "Foreign Entertainer." Also, I've dealt with Japanese citizenship laws. Even though she's married to Bun, it doesn't give her citizenship. Right now, she would have a "Spouse Visa", and she's not eligible for citizenship until they've been married for exactly one year, and has lived there for three. After a while she'll be eligible for permanent residency, and citizenship. But that's a long and tedious process, which actually requires her taking on a new Japanese name. In order to qualify for Japanese citizenship, she would have to have lived at an address continuesly for five years, behave well (they check up on this), demonstrate the means to support her family, and be willing to relinquish the citizenship of the US once Japanese citizenship is granted. Then two rounds of tiresome paper work. So unless she's done all of the above (she can't have, as she hasn't been married for a year yet), then she isn't a Japanese citizen.69.225.2.62 (talk) 10:12, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Technically, if Arnold moves to Japan and releases his own modeling and acting career, then he would, indeed, be a Japanese singer and actor. The person's NATIONALITY is different from their ETHNIC background. You can't mix the two up. For Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, and Lucy Liu, they're still American entertainers even if Spears is English, Mariah half black and half Caucasian, Liu Chinese. I do not see how stating Dizon being a Japanese celebrity misleading in any way if she works for the Japanese talent industry. ★Dasani★ 18:23, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but listing Britney Spears, Lucy Liu, and Mariah Carey makes no sense. They were all born in America. Dizon was born in America, and is therefore an American entertainer in Japan (well, she was.) As it is, the article reads that she is not Japanese. If any passerby were to drop in and take a glance, it says that she is not a Japanese citizen. a model?

yeah some medias say she was a model in the US, but in Japan she never did/do any sort of modeling. Firstly, such a fat and short person can never do modeling in Japan... She did not have a career in the US, save for a few appearances at car shows aimed mainly towards young men. She has indeed released three photobooks in Japan, however I don't know if that's enough to consider her a model. Ayumi Hamasaki and Namie Amuro have a few out and are not considered models, but entertainers and musicians.

Google it; most of her well-known pictures have her posing in Japanese beaches, gardens, and hotel rooms. Here is one example. Also, Dizon is not short and fat by American standards (170 cm and 51 kg is just 5'5" and 115 lbs in US standards), but perhaps Japanese modeling requirements reach for way above that. ★Dasani★

Daughter's name

Since Mila is a foreign name (it's of Slavic origin), shouldn't her name be written in Katakana the way foreign words and names are? ミラ would be the correct way to write it. 69.226.106.54 (talk) 10:45, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Actually, Mila is her English name, so it should not be Katakana-ized. We Asians tend have an Asian name a name in our own language and an additional English name that does not necessarily have to be the same as our Asian original name. We use the English name when the situation calls for English, so it is correct to leave it as English on the English Wikipedia. szupie (talk) 22:24, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

I know that, I'm Asian. I meant should the Kanji (placed next to her name in the article) be taken out and replaced with Katakana, since they Katakana-ize English names in Japan. Well, in Leah's blog post, her daughter is called both Mila and 美蘭, so I would assume that the former is her English name and the latter is her Japanese name. And I don't think I understand the first part of your comment: why should the Kanji be replaced by the Katakana-ized English name? It would appear that most Japanese babies are using Kanji as their names these days. Mila's name has never been written with Katakana, just Kanji. 美蘭 is a translation of her English name. Since she has one parent who is not a native Japanese speaker, those kids only have translated names from English to Japanese. ★Dasani★ 01:36, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Re: a model? to Dasani

As you said, she had acted mostly for males, and now retired. She had never appeared in any collection, any main-stream fashion magazine or any modeling-related media (at least in Japan). and in Japan Dizon's popularity was mostly confined to male otakus (nerdies). Do you know any female model who is working for male nerds? We all know that it doesn't exist and can't exist.
