Nominations for deletion

[edit]

I notice this article has been nominated for deletion twice this last week by WikiUser1211. The first time, on 31 May 2022, with the concern was that:

The page is not really important and doesn't serve a very big purpose. The article is also very small and poorly sourced. This person is very insignificant and having a page for him doesn't make sense. and proposed under the user name of Yellow alligator, who has not edited this article.

Then a second time, on 3 June 2022, with the concern that:

i dont found any relatable information about the living person, its all about his case involved in the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala. Provide some more information about his early age, personal and cases before of also which was proposed under the user's own identity.

I am not sure what is going on here, but for a user to nominate an article for deletion in the name of another (unrelated?) user is not an appropriate user behaviour, as it lead to that other user being notified of a deletion that the other user had no apparent involvement in.

As to the grounds for deletion, themselves, these appear to come down to whether the subject of this article is sufficiently notable to need their own article. To meet this requirement there needs to be a sufficient number reliable sources to exist to write a biography and that this be sustained coverage over time, rather than about a single event. Because the subject of this article appears to be a high-profile individual who has been involved in several high-profile crimes committed against several other high-profile individuals, who each appear have their own Wikipedia articles, it is difficult to write about this person without having an article about him. There is no single other article where it would make sense to have a full biography and to have duplicated biographies in other articles becomes difficult to manage. However, reprehensible or obnoxious this person might be and whatever editors might think about the subject, a dozen sources in the article, so far, would strongly suggest this subject is notable enough to warrant inclusion in Wikipedia by way of a dedicated article. Several thousand page views in the last view days also indicate this article is of interest to Wikipedia's readers, and that is probably the best reason to have this article.- Cameron Dewe (talk) 23:00, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Cameron Dewe As far as using Yellow Alligators name in the first PROD is concerned, I noticed that @Yellow alligator actually added a WP:PROD to the page Goldy Brar here. You can see that the reason is identical and the PROD on this article was made later.
Goldy Brar is a close associate of the subject of this page and is the person who actually claimed responsibility of the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala on behalf of Lawrence Bishnoi.
So @WikiUser1211 copied the entire PROD from that article. >>> Extorc.talk 05:47, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Extorc: Thanks for that very plausible explanation. As I said, I was "not sure what is going on". An oversight. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 06:11, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

RS disagree on DOB

[edit]

@Packer&Tracker, you in your recent edit changed the DOB to 1991, this and this disagree with each other. >>> Extorc.talk 10:59, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Extorc: To be honest; I changed his DOB here because it appeared to be unsourced, that's why I added a reliable piece from The Print. I am not that well informed in these context and not very intersted in him either. But, If two reliable sources disagree, We should look for more sources in these regard, Thanks. Two dozen v twelve

[edit]

The para says he has "two dozen" cases. Why does it use "two dozen" and not "twelve"? Dozen sounds very odd in sentences. 2402:8100:3136:7BB3:FA8E:45DC:A2D2:113F (talk) 14:47, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dozen is a commonplace word in the English language and it means twelve. So, two dozen means 24 not twelve. Cullen328 (talk)

The Washington Post report

[edit]

In the last part of the article under the section "Allegations by Canada," there is no need to include an alleged report by The Washington Post. The report was denied by the Indian side, and the Canadian government didn't confirm it. Therefore, adding a report from any newspaper doesn't make sense. There were also reports from the media alleging that Trudeau was doing this for his political benefit. The best course of action would be to remove this part. राजकुमार(talk) 07:24, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Washington Post is indisputably a reliable source, and we do not remove a source just because some editor does not like it. Cullen328 (talk) 07:32, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Quoting a report that only makes allegations doesn't reflect well. If I include additional information, such as reports from the media alleging that Trudeau was doing this for his political benefit, it will likely be reverted very soon. राजकुमार(talk) 07:41, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you neutrally summarize sources as reliable as the Washington Post, your edit may well stick. Please note that the content is clearly labeled as allegations, not as proven facts. As for "political benefit", politicians who carry out their duties correctly often benefit from that. Cullen328 (talk) 07:56, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
