"Albury Oval" and Lavington Sports Ground

[edit]

"Albury Oval" and Lavington Sports Ground are different venues.

There seems to be a bit of confusion, not necessarily on this page but others linking to this, between Albury Oval (actually called Albury Sports Ground) located at Lat/Long -36.08308, 146.90872, next to the main business district of Albury (and is the home ground of the Albury Football Club), whereas Lavington Sports Ground is located several kilometres away on the northern outskirts of Lavington, and didn't even exist in 1952.

I'm not sure whether Albury Sports Ground is notable enough to merit its own article on the basis of one VFL game in 1952 as part of that season's "propaganda round", although a number of other possibly notable sporting and cultural events have occurred there, such as exhibition matches in cricket and Aussie rules, and in 2014 a practice match between the Super Rugby clubs NSW Waratahs and Melbourne Rebels.
