This is a great article with loads of references and verified sources. It is well written and could pass GA very easily and quickly if these following minor issues were addressed (they're mainly copy editing stuff). I'll be out in a bit so I will leave some comments later...

I've also noticed that you are going to be away for some time. I will therefore still review this GAN, but will put it on hold till 13 August or later, or whenever you can come to this review! Jaguar 18:43, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I will be handling the task of correcting the article in response to your comments. Hawkeye7 (talk) 02:28, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thank you! I will leave the comments now. Jaguar 16:42, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Initial comments

[edit]

As I said, this is a great article so this GA review could pass very quickly if these minor issues were addressed.

Personal

[edit]
  • I can't help but think that some parts of this section are not very encyclopedia-like. A few minor changes can help improve this:
  • "Gary played for the Boomers in 1975. He is very tall, and Jackson inherited his height" - confusing sentence. 'Jackson' is referring to Lauren, isn't it?
  • "Maree played for the Opals from 1974 to 1982." - could both Gary and Maree be both referred to as Lauren's father and mother respectively?

Celebrity

[edit]
  • "Jackson has googled herself. When people google her, some of the first search results feature Jackson in the nude" - could this sentence be a little more formal? Something about this just doesn't read right...

European basketball

[edit]

Honours

[edit]
  • "In late 2011, the Albury Sports Stadium was renamed after her." - could this sentence explain where this statium is and what it was renamed to?
  • I read one of the refs and it said that Jackson opened the Lauren Jackson Sports Centre. Just wondering is this connected with the Albury Sports Stadium?

On hold

[edit]

This is a very popular article that gains around 80,000 views a month! And especially when the Olympics are on just literally thirty miles away from me, there is much to applaud in this article as given the time and events link together very well. This article is written excellently, and once those very minor issues are addressed, this article could easily be rewarded its well deserved GA status! Very well done on the extra work. We'll be over there in a couple of weeks to cover the Paralympics. Hawkeye7 (talk) 02:33, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Close - promoted

[edit]

There was really little work to do with this article to bring it up to GA, and together with the effort made by Hawkeye and LauraHale this article has speedily made it to GA. This has in fact been the best article I have ever reviewed; so many correct sources with excellent prose there was hardly any comments to be made! This is very impressive!

Enough talk then - this article has deserves its GA status once and for all. Well done! Jaguar 20:18, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
