Notability?

[edit]

Her name is linked on the United Airlines Flight 93 article, and is one of the passengers to make phone calls. Of course, as this was written, it was entirely unencyclopedic. But, she is notable for making phone calls and think this article can be rewritten in compliance with Wikipedia policies. --Aude (talk) 00:40, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Details

[edit]
copied from my talk page. --Aude (talk) 12:54, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted to share my thoughts about some of the reversals you made to my edits, namely the inclusion of the seat numbers, which would appear to be trivial to the extreme, unless you have information whiah I do not.

In addition, I had removed the sisters' married names and the name of the publisher for the reason that this info already appears in the Published work section which I had ejected the information to, and is thus redundant. Ohconfucius 08:17, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The original seat numbers are significant, as they differ from where the phone calls were placed. That suggests what occurred on the flight. And the removal of the sisters' names sounds okay. I only objected to someone removing numerous references, such as the Deseret Morning News which was a book review, without any discussion of why. --Aude (talk) 12:54, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry you consider that I may have taken away too much of the detail, but I was attempting to make the article encyclopaedic. Whilst editing biographies of deceased persons, I always try to bear in mind that Wiki is not a memorial. Whilst there may be temptation to include very small details which may be important for one or two people for the sake of completeness in memory of the dearly departed, these details are not always necessary or desirable in the context of an encyclopaedic article. Mentioning for example that the proceeds of the book would be distributed to US charities through the Foundation is good, and is probably sufficient. It might be more informative if a global monetary amount could be given. However, usually, any charitable foundation's directors may donate proceeds at their discretion, and so beneficiaries may be subject to change. Ohconfucius 01:59, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Memorial

[edit]

I'll echo Ohconfucius on this. The biography is 4 paragraphs long while the debatable notability is a single sentence about an unreceived phone message. The call was not received until after the incident and offered no information. I don't see how this article is anything but a memorial.--MartinezMD (talk) 15:43, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I urge this page's deletion. Most of these victims names should be merely listed. Their connection with a famous event, neither merits an entire article, nor should it be exploited to propagate a dreary biography of no relevance.

Plus, from the earlier discussion - '2.Published authors, editors and photographers who received multiple independent reviews of or awards for their work.' 'excerpts' aren't reviews. Beingsshepherd (talk) 01:21, 27 February 2013 (UTC)Beingsshepherd[reply]
