Laura - List of People

[edit]

To Bkonrad from Cosmo1976 In other articles on common names, there is a list of various people (either actual person or fictional) who have borne the name under discussion. I recently sought to expand this article by doing the same. My expansion was then removed by another person (bkonrad) with no explanation accompanying the reason for the removal. Bkonrad, will you please explain your reasoning? I feel that to undo the work of an editor with a respectable contribution record (please see mine) with no reason for the undoing is not good form. I will accept good reasoning upon its presentation. Thank you in advance for your time and attention to this request. Cosmo1976 (talk) 07:04, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

To Cosmo1976 from Boleyn This page is for those (people, films etc.) known simply as 'Laura'; those with the first name Laura belong on Laura (given name). These are sometimes not separated into given name and general disambiguation page, but it helps if they are, particularly if a common name with a long list of people. That way the other entries don't get swallowed up, and the given name page can add further information on the name, and references, which aren't allowed on a disambiguation page. Also disambiguation pages aren't meant to list partial matches, and 'Laura' to mean someone who is not commonly known just as 'Laura', but rather as 'Laura Smith' would really be a partial match. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 08:12, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

To Boleyn from Cosmo1976 Excellent explanation Boleyn. I understand and I agree. Thank you very much. Cosmo1976 (talk) 04:34, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dave King

[edit]

I am cross referencing the section on Dave King (musician), the singer for Flogging Mollys who have a song titled Laura. I do not see any such reference to his dead wife mentioned in the bio. I think this needs to be verified. Gratefullab (talk) 17:49, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

US-centric introduction

[edit]

I have moved the US centric part of the introduction to the US section under "Places". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.153.60.15 (talk) 20:04, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
